Ah, but the complex ones are always so much more fun.
Makes them interesting.

I really loved what he said about hiding behind a character. Because I think that just makes so much sense. And I've totally noticed that with him. Once that curtain goes up for curtain call he looks very uncomfortable.
I don't think she meant that he is messed up as in crazy. I think she was speaking more about his life being messed up. And, of course, she said all of this after talking to me about his being 'tortured'. So I don't think she meant it the way it sounds.
But that is exactly the reason why I adore him so much. He has such power and intensity. I can never take my eyes off of him. Even talking to him one on one is intense. As crazy as it sounds, I always feel so honored that he takes the time to say two words to me.
Although I do think he is a little off. But, strangely, that just makes me like him more.
ETA: No idea why he was out. My friend is going all this week, though. So we'll see if he's back in tomorrow.

Indeed. Adds intrigue...
Anyway, I know I'm sort of late realizing how amazing he is, but what's his next project after Chitty closes? Anything yet?
It makes his claims to stage fright make a lot more sense, I think. A lot of times people wonder how someone shy -- like Raul, or Idina -- can get on stage and totally let loose.
This is all why I want to see him do something serious, and substantial again. He's just not able to work to his potential with Chitty, even though you can clearly see what he's got from it.
All artists are a little off.
*worry* I hope he's okay!
ETA -- he's doing Company in Cincinatti during March and April. John Doyle's directing.

I edited, too! No idea why he's out. But when I was at the show on Sunday there were about five cast members out. They must all be sharing germs.
I agree about Chitty. I think he's wasted. It's obvious how talented he is but I don't think enough people take the time to notice it. I'm excited for Company. Mostly because of how excited he is for it.

haha, finally got all of the edits figured out!
This cast needs to not be sick all the time!
It makes me so happy that he's psyched for Company. I'm waiting for him to just give a full-blown "YAAAAAAAY!" about it.
Oh! That's right, I do remember reading that. I'd love to see him in Company, it seems a lot more suited to his talents (based on what he's done before, since I've never seen him in person). At the same time, I think it's kind of cool that he took a bit of a risk and did a family show... funny that a risk for him is the opposite of what it would be for most actors.

It was funny. When I talked to him before the show on... um.. I think it was Friday. Anyway, the first thing I said was "Can I ask you a question?". He was very polite about it, but it wasn't until he heard that my question was about Company that he got all cozy and chatty.
I remember one of the moms telling me that she thought Raul was tired of the show. And this was long before they announced closing.
Being that "Can I ask you a question?" can be followed by:
"Can we go have sex in your dressing room?"
"Can you sign my picture?"
"Are you singing ___?"
I can see why he'd be a little aloof at first.
I'm sure he's been tired of it for a while. Like, it seemed fun at first, and then they got bored. really. fast.
It is kind of a catch-22, siren -- that what's easy for people with less talent is harder for him.

Yeah, exactly. I thought about that after I had said it. I was like "Oh great. He's going to think I'm asking for an autograph or something really annoying." But he was great. He seemed so excited that I'm going to see it.
I really want to tell him how excited I am to see him do something other than dance around in plaid. But I'm not sure how he would take that. Hah.
hahahahaa. You should tell him that. I bet he'd laugh! That made me giggle.
ohhh, i'm gonna miss the plaid. haha. kidding. well, kinda. can't wait for company!!
Awww, I just looked at the dates for Company's run and it misses my spring break by a week. And it was all planned out in my head--I have relatives in Cincinnati that I could visit.

I want to. But I don't want to insult him and his work.
I want to see him do something that makes me really uncomfortable. haha. Something really dark and angry and scary. I love things like that. I loved The Pillowman. I'm sad it closed. I think Raúl could have been great in it.
I highly enjoyed getting to see the plaid from up so close last week. What can I say? He has nice assets.
I... need to start talking to my parents about Cincinatti. Serious talking.
That's why I liked The Normal Heart. It wasn't recline-in-your-seat theatre.

That was so much fun, Em! I love to look at his hands and let my mind wander...
YES you do. I think you should go on the 19th... Haha!
mmm. Hands.
Another reason why I liked that play.
I have to see when Spring break is. I think it's probably around then.
*Jealous.*
Spring break is the 4th-12th for me.

The audiences have just been so DEAD lately. It makes me want to laugh extra hard so that he knows someone is paying attention to him.

Last year mine was around St. Patrick's day. Still too early for Spring, if you ask me.
I hate dead audiences.
I can barely keep my eyes open, and there's no reason for me to be up if I'm not doing any work at all, so good night!

Part of me thinks he thinks I'm a little silly for seeing the show so often. But part of me thinks he enjoys it.
Well, the 19th is a Sunday. That's one of the reasons I picked it. So either way I can still make it. But I think my spring break is around then anyway.

Me too. I should have been asleep a while ago. I need to get rid of this cold.
'Night!
