I'm back! It's kind of sad that tonight was very, very likely the last time I'll see the show. Funnily enough, I think what I'm going to miss most of all is seeing Raul dance.
I saw him on his way in, but he was with Michele, so I didn't say anything. I sort of regret not calling his name or something, but at the time, I didn't want to bug him. I still had The Normal Heart in my bag, though. They were walking arm-in-arm, laughing like mad. It was really cute.
The show was great tonight -- the audience was really warm, which I haven't seen in *ages*. The orchestra looked mostly full, for what it's worth. Everyone was in (except Erin, obviously). Chip's back!!
Only a few things that were funny enough to warrant mention:
1. "Observe. And be a-MAH-zed!"
2. When he first tells that the name of the car shall be Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, he said it in rhythm, as always, but did... well, rapping motions with his hands. It was... well, Raul, don't rap. Ever.
3. The dancing in the car. Really sexy, but not at all early-1900's.
4. "I'll give you what you jolly well deserve!" He stood straight up, hands on his hips and glared Marc in the face. Marc cracked up.
Random weird thing: someone in the audience sneezed during the beach scene, and literally on a dime, Raul -- in character, accent and all -- softly mumbled "bless you." It was a break of the fourth wall, but he did it *so* in character, it was kind of interesting, because it goes to show how in-tuned with his character he is.
A work of art is an invitation to love.
