Michele intimidates me in the sense that when he's with her, I feel like he's in his personal life, and I shouldn't invade it. That's part of why I was so nervous to approach him at Symphony Space.

Oh, who was on for Truly? Did they give the part to Barnes?
I've heard she's really nice, as well. One of the moms says she's painfully shy but one of the nicest people you'll meet. I guess it's just that whenever I see them together she isn't smiling. Hmm. I don't know. I'm sure she's a sweetheart, though. How can she not be? With a job like hers.

From what I have heard of his acting style; I'd say he's very in touch with the audience and plays off of them. That was probably a result of his being so tuned in.
Something about talking to the actor's wife seems a bit weird. What would you say? "I want your husband"?
Well, at Symphony Space he was just there, and she was just there next to him. If I'd gone over to him tonight, I'd have been interrupting their interaction, and that's invasive.
The "bless you" thing was just so automatic, as if he were really, truly this person he plays.
Yeah, but she was like sitting next to him and they were calmly munching on popcorn and waiting to see the movie. He wasn't supposed to be the center of attention that night, the Rent people were. Whatever, I'm glad that I did, though.
Oh, please, I'm petrified of Michele.
"Do you run and hiiiiiiiide?"
Sorry.
Yes, I do!
g, Julie Barnes played Truly, but I have no idea if that's permanent. She sounded GREAT tonight.
I can imagine she'd be really shy -- I'm a lot like that in the sense that I'm so shy that my non-talkativeness can sometimes come off as mean-ness. :-/

That's why he can get away with so much on stage. In real life, the man is really shy and reserved. But on stage, he can do whatever the character wants to do. Becuase it isn't Raul. It's the Emcee, it's Phillip, it's George, it's Ned, it's Cactus, and soon to be Bobby. With a truly great director, the character can say whatever he wants, walk wherever he wants, and wear whatever he wants. And that is why I love acting. It gives you the opportunity to do things you would never dream of doing in real life.

Cactus. Hehe. But you're absolutely right. He's such an amazing talent to be able to completely transform himself in that way. That's actually one of the first things about him that caught my eye. The fact that he is a COMPLETELY different person with each role he takes on.
Yay! I really, really adore Julie Barnes!
haha, I haven't called him Cactus in so long!
I liked Julie B., but no where near as much as Erin. She was very nice at the stagedoor, though. I think I saw her first ever time going on!
Raul needs to do a show in North Carolina. Preferably, at my house. NOW.

Dear Raul,
Will you perform for me? Naked.
Love,

That's not what I meant!! :-0
See, that's why I like Raúl so much, and why other actors bother me. I don't like how some actors play a character as if it's just a variation of themself. Like in Odd Couple, it's obviously Nathan Lane up there, not Oscar. But even though I know it's Raúl up onstage, he gets you so caught up in his portrayal of the character at times, you do forget it's just Raúl in a plaid suit.
He should wait until next summer for that, I'll be in NC July-August.

Oh, sure it's not!
Really, orange?! Which part of NC? That's too bad, because I'll be in NYC for most of that time.
Emerald Isle, I go with my family every summer.

I can't wait to see how he plays Bobby. Absolutely CAN'T WAIT!
Oh, cool! I'm actually going there next weekend. Crazy.
A few months ago, I was reading the weekend real estate section of the NYTimes and they had an ad for the sale of the house that's literally across the street from the one I go to. Definitely crazy.
Who wants to pack me in her suitcase for a trip to Ohio?

We'll see how long this one lasts.
Raúl singing "Marry Me A Little" = A very happy Stefanie!
Yay, g! You're using it!
