Just saying hi. It's been too long. DOOM. Although it hasn't really been *that* long. But a short time seems like a long one in board time.I guess I've been doing less hw/procrastinating at the computer, since that's prime bww time. Have been lurking slightly, but too many pages to keep up with. I miss the Raul thread! And I can't type/think straight tonight.

I'm currently immersed in the world of Larry Kramer. Reading Destiny now. I'm liking it more than TNH so far although TNH was incredible.

Pretty Raul picture!

em, in terms of explaining friends, maybe you can tell her it's someone you met through another friend. That would explain a new friend who doesn't go to your school or anything.

ang, I am coming for New Years. I wouldn't miss it. But I'll PM you about details either tomorrow or Monday, I'm up entirely too late considering I have to be up for 4 hours for church with my family.

Earlier this evening, I told my sister about Cincinatti and planning to take one of our parents. Before I even told her about my concerns, she basically expressed the same feelings I've been stressing about. Which is funny, but kind of sad. But I do kind of want to be able to take my dad. He was the first person that introduced me to live theater when he would take me to local high school productions of like The Wizard of Oz and Little Mary Sunshine when I was 3, so this would bring it full circle. :/

I saw dolphins today at the beach! They were swimming along and jumping out of the water occasionally. It was so exciting!

awwww, I'm so jealous! I used to sit out at the beach for HOURS when I went on vacation, refusing to move until I saw dolphins.

So, I saw Brokeback Mountain.

I don't know.

I think the most surprising thing was how the scenes in which they're together are portrayed. It's not a love that makes you go "awwww" as much as I thought it would be. Some parts certainly do, but it's very rough and... animalistic. I don't just mean the sex, because honestly, it's a love story, not a sex story. They only do it on screen once, and it's not very graphic at all -- it's also a very short scene. My one grapple with the sex scene was that it sort of comes out of the blue -- they just sort of start f*cking, but I think you're to assume there had been mutual unspoken feelings for a while, and they just couldn't take it anymore. Ennis is on top, looking like he's done it before, yet it doesn't seem like he would have, since he discovers he's gay *because* of his time with Jack. They do cuddle and things, but they fight a lot -- physically and verbally. It's a very dangerous, scary, painful love. Even when they kiss, they sort of just hold each other's faces, almost looking like they might hurt each other.

It's very, very sad and very, very beautiful. And I think (I don't want to spoil the ending on the boards but I'll PM it to you if you want to know, g) that as much as it's a comment about loving who you will, etc, it's also a comment on how this all needs to stop -- the hate, and the crimes and the phobia. That is just can't keep going on, and that we need to do something. I want to do something. It's a comment on the sh*t that goes on that makes loving who you want to love a f*cking impossibility, and how disgustingly unfair that is.

I've had some thoughts and ideas but then I just feel like... who am I? A young, straight girl. Would my help even be wanted? It's just so hard.

I think some people are very grateful for solidarity and support and things, but the "you just don't understand!" camp scares me. I know that I don't understand, but... do I have to totally understand? Do I have to know exactly what it's like? It hurts that people think that. I feel like in many ways, they feel like they have to fight their own fight. What use is someone who just feels sorry? I don't know. I really don't know.

Wow. Tonight I saw Sweeney Todd. Patti LuPone was out. I missed her dearly. Unfortunately, her understudy wasn't totally prepared. Lines were dropped. So that sucked.

After the show, we barelled to the stage door. I was sad to see there was still a large amount of people waiting. Michael came out, saw me, and waved to me, and said "hi". AWKWARD! Everyone turned to look at me to see who I was. Did I mention I love him, though?

Just so everyone knows, I FINALLY asked him about THE shirt. At first, he was all confused. I didn't describe it well enough. Then once he realized what I was talking about, he told me. They were given the shirts, and the people wanted them to wear it. You know, for promotional reasons. "If you buy this shirt, you could win a Tony Award." kind of thing. So them being the asses that they are did it up a notch. He said it's the ONLY time he's ever worn the shirt, and the only time he WILL ever wear the shirt. He also said that it's safe to say Raul and Dennis haven't worn their's since. So that is the unexciting tale of the floral-y shirt.

ugh. i think rent has become my new chitty. like, now that it's closing i've moved on and just want to see rent all the time. i'm soooooo tempted to get sro tomorrow, but since i actually have a friend in the cast, it's embarassing to show your face all the time.
