*pokes head back in on her way out*
Hey there, Elph.
How goes AP bio? We're starting out fruit fly rape lab next week.
Sounds like you had fun Em
. Did you take a picture with him? Theres a saying my mom says to me "Don't expect it, and you wont miss it"..something like that.
It's going okay. We're doing inverebrates now.
We never did finish that lab....but have fun!
Those poor, poor fruit flies. Or you poor students. I can't decide.
We did take pictures, Mel. He looks good in one, but my eyes are shut, so we took another and he looks mildly stoned.

Ah, invertebrates. We just finished up those chapters. I thought sponges were rather fascinating. Did you do that transpiration lab? I thought it was evil. We spent forever trying to get the water in the tubes without air bubbles.
Em, I think it's a raw deal all around. We have to live with that on our conscience, they have to be raped.
*waves* Was nice visiting. IM me sometime, Elphie.
Well, you know me. I just hate bugs.
Bugs don't bother me, I've actually eaten a couple for money. I'm not to proud of that fact.
*gags* wow.
I hate bugs. *shudders*

Nia: Ideally, all performers would treat fans at the stagedoor well. Of course, reality is another story. While it disappoints me to hear of performers treating fans at the stagedoor badly -- in my opinion, if you're a performer and in a bad mood, skip the stagedoor all together -- I don't think anyone would argue that performers owe great behavior to their fans at the stagedoor.
However, yes, I do believe that traveling from many miles away to see a show especially for a particular performer merits a special thanks (especially with regards to someone who has rabidly supported his career). I'm not claiming that, in your hypothetical situation, Em should be treated better than you per se, as I believe that performers should ideally treat all fans nicely, but I do think she deserves a special thank you or, as you put it, "particular thanks." Perhaps "deserves" isn't the right word -- it's just something that I think a performer should do. If you disagree with my perspective on the situation, that's fine too. I know many do!
As far as the "sweet talking" goes: I never implied that Em traveled that far just to be sweet talked by Raul; of course she went to see the show.
I don't mean to start an argument within this thread, especially after I thought the subject was dropped, but I didn't want to ignore your post.
AP Biology is boring, although I don't find it especially difficult. Maybe my class isn't as challenging as both of yours.
In Raul's defense, there's only one way out of this place. Through the lobby. So he was going to get caught by someone, even if it hadn't been me.
I think the argument IS over whether they owe it. I guess it's their prerogative to exit where they want and act how they want, even if it's kinda rude to come out to a line of fans and just bust outta there.
It was far from bad treatment. I really do think he was just exhausted. And that show CAN NOT be easy on him.

Challenge is in the eye of the beholder. I have an A+ right now, but I still find myself working hard because I want to learn new things.
Neither of us implied that Em went that far because she's an airhead fangirl, but SOME people would.
I stand by what I said.

I think my mother honestly thinks I went on this trip simply because I think he's hot.
At least someone doesn't think that!

I don't really want to continue the argument, but I agree with Lexi. I'm personally of the opinion that a lot of actors are still "performing" at the stage door. It really isn't that hard to act like you are interested and try to give the fan your full attention, even if you aren't completely all there that night. I know he must have been exhausted, but even acting interested, even if you aren't, goes a long way. Although I'm not saying he treated Em badly. Obviously I wasn't there to know. :) Updated On: 3/18/06 at 08:02 PM
Well, he did. I guess I sort of AM trying to defend him, but I said this to Lexi earlier; I think my filling this in with my mom's perspective is making it seem worse than it is. He really was okay, just not what I'm used to.
I don't think that actors are required to be nice to all of their fans. It's always great when they are, but I don't think that it's part of their job.
They're not required to..but I think they should. I would be nice to someone who supported me. I don't understand why they wouldn't be nice.

Katt, that's basically how I feel. Although it's certainly not part of one's contract to be a sweetheart at the stagedoor, it's almost like... it wouldn't kill the performers to be nice to their fans, even if they have other things on their mind, and especially when the fan has traveled quite a distance to see them.
Nia, I wasn't sure if you were stating that I was implying that Em was going simply to be sweet talked with the "if a person is really going that far..." statement. I thought my words were perhaps misconstrued, but apparently, they weren't. Also, that's perfectly fine if you feel differently about this situation than I do. I wasn't trying to convince you to feel a particular way with my post, rather just replying to what you said.
I'm sorry that my post apparently enraged you so much that you felt the need to post on this particular issue after not posting for quite a while.
With that, I'm done with this issue, and I'm sorry for even bringing this up. As I said in my earlier posts, as long as Em is happy with the result of her trip, that's all that truly matters. Let's move on, yes?

I'm sorry that your pretention has blinded you to the fact that I have been posting on a semi-regular basis, though not on this thread, which I began reading this evening at Emcee's suggestion, not because of some personal vendetta against you.
You left your post open for reply and I did just that.
The rage is a figment of your highly active imagination and I can't imagine where it came from- perhaps a reflection of your feelings?
And now you may move on.
I just want to say that I hope (and think, anyway) that the discussion has become more general than just what happened with me and Raul last night. I feel like with words that imply mistreatment and meanness and things... like I've misconstrued the way he acted, or something -- even if a general discussion of the way actors treat their fans has stemmed from this, I didn't mean to make it seem like he wasn't nice or appreciative or anything. It wasn't anything I take personally at ALL; he just seemed like he had a lot going on in his pretty little head. I don't want to make it seem like he was a bitch or anything. He truly was still nice, just... not himself. And more than I'm disappointed, I hope he's alright, and really was just tired.
I went out there to see him tear the house down, and he did.

What are you talking about? My "pretention"? How am I pretentious?
I honestly felt bad that my post made you so incensed that it prompted you to post -- not because I dislike your posts, but because it obviously made you angry. I hadn't seen recent posts by you in some time and if I made the false assumption that you hadn't posted for a while, I apologize.

With all due respect, you hadn't posted in this thread, or the Adam thread in a very long time, and the first thing you posted was something negative towards her. Of she is going to feel that way.
Oh boy.
I... don't really think that not posting for a long time makes it inexcusable to jump in where one left off, does it? You can read without posting for as long as you want. Something of a luxury, maybe.
