Or, when he reads the note that says "Whoever reads this, I love you", you could scream "That's from me!!!!" Oh, there are many ways to embarass one's self.

Lol, so, I've been listening to Petrified, on repeat, like I said, and my sister walked in and was like "Who is this?" and I told her it was Raul and she said she was so surprised that he was actually good, since he's 'only' on Broadway. *headdesk*

Right, because swishy Raul would make such a pop star.

Lol, yes. Well, this is coming from the girl who thought Broadway was in Chicago, and 'real' actors win Oscars, not Tonys.
She's 29 btw.

You do, Mandi.
I was in the front row for Company, so I was kind of paranoid about being well-behaved. I think maybe I blushed a bit and looked away from some of the eye contact.
Maybe if he had that crazy purple furry coat... he could pass as a bad-ass rock star with interesting taste in clothing?

Chicago? How old is she?
ETA: *gasp* 29 and she doesn't know Broadway is in NYC?

29. What's even sadder is that she has BEEN to Broadway. My parents took her there when she went to bording school in New York and they saw Cats, Les Mis, and Phantom *is so jelious*.
The purple coat scares me.
I sat 2nd row once for Chitty and I couldn't look him in the eyes.

Okay, I can't believe I'm even mentioning this, but if I had ever... oh, say- went to a strip club with my friend for her 18th B-Day, then I would have to say that it is tough to look into the 'performer's' eyes, it is just so strange. Now, Raul is a much different situation, but still, I get what you mean. I felt weird when he just looked up at me, and I was in the last row.
I absolutly CANNOT WAIT FOR COMPANY.
i think i plotzed when i heard it was coming to NY.
Raul is amazing
Company is amazing
Sondheim in amazing
Doyle is amazing
YAY
I think he can and does use it to consciously freak out, though. I wish I could remember the exact line, but he grabbed my eye contact at this really intense moment during The Normal Heart, and just drove it right through me. He was shouting something; I really wish I knew what. I remember where he was standing on the stage, and all, but that doesn't help. :-/
I can stare all I want seeing as Raúl doesn't know me from a hole in the wall! Teehee! If only I could get tickets close enough to do that! :)
I agree, Caroline!
Yeah, I pretty much freaked out a little about the front row thing, but it was awesome. It's a little like "Eek, stop staring at me!" but also slightly thrilling. I couldn't keep eye contact with any of the actors for more than a moment or two before I looked away.

When he was talking with his friends after Company and my friend and I were standing there waiting for him, he kept glancing over. It was akward because we didn't want to be rude and inturupt, but we were the only other people there for a long time and it was pretty obvious that we were waiting for him. I kept glancing at him when no one was looking (pinching myself because I couldn't believe it was him, lol) and at one point he and I both glanced at the same time and made eye contact and I got all flushed and light-headed. He probably was wondering why that girl who was waiting for him had to steady herself on the banister and then sit down after he looked at her, lol.
The only time I ever thought I'd prefer the non-intimacy of TV to theatre was at the Chitty final show. Normally when actors onstage look at you, it's really cool, but when he looks at you, it's just so intense that you want him to look anywhere but towards you. It's very jarring.
That's how I feel, ss -- "stop staring at me!"
I'm really conscious of trying not to stare at someone while I'm waiting. So concsious of it, in fact, that I make really huge efforts to look like I'm engaged in conversation and not just waiting like my life depends on this interaction.

I didn't want to stare or anything, but honestly I was afraid he would leave without me noticing, and I wanted to catch him in case he was going to leave with his friends, because in that situation I would inturupt because I live in Ohio and who knows the next chance I'll get? (well, now that it's going to Broadway I'm planning to go see him again, but I didn't know that then, lol).
Yeah, I felt exactly that way, skittles. He wasn't even staring at me during any intense moment, just during one of the comedic scenes or something (though Bobby is always kind of brooding), but his gaze is just so intense when he's on stage.
As uncomfortable as staring is, I think I'd sit there and have a staring contest with the man, just to have the image of his eyes seared into my memory.

Hehe, well, when we actually MET I did stare into his eyes. I was also trying to evaluate who was taller- he was, but not by much, lol. I think it's less awkward once you've started talking to him.
