I thought it was wonderful. Not perfect, but wonderful.
I don't see a whole lot of movies, but for my money, the two best movies I've seen this year were both animated- this and Up.
I hope at least one of them finds itself nominated as one of the ten best pictures of the year.
At the very least, one of these two films is a shoo-in for Animated Feature (if I had to pick, I'd choose Up, though I loved both).

So, no one else was pondering why Lotte sounded familiar and then found out that it was Jen Cody? I feel bad now, but loved the movie. We did have a few crying kids along with a few that were taken out because the voodoo was a bit much for them. Evangeline!

I actually loved the songs. I've been listening to them non-stop since Friday. I guess different strokes for different folks.
Anyway, Time Magazine rated the 10 best movies of the year. They put The Princess and the Frog at #1 and Up at #2.
Corliss can be so strange with his top ten lists. I don't argue whether or not the films on his list are good (well except when he put Cars in his top ten films one year), I just raise an eyebrow quite a lot with where certain films are ranked. He is not but unorthodox.

Just agree, and agree whole-heartedly on the score. I liked it as it was happening: toe tapping, fun.... but now, no more than 2 hours after the movie ended, I don't recall a single song or lyric. Sad.
I don't grasp why Alan Menken was removed. Even if his work wasn't up to par with his prior Disney scores, he still would have been a perfect symbolic choice. Unlike Newman, who if you think about it, is the anti-symbolic choice, if there is such a thing (he scored TOY STORY, which was pretty much the beginning of the end of Disney animation).
Don't worry about Alan Menken. The 8-time Oscar-winner is still in very good favor with Disney, and he's scoring their next animated fairy tale "Rapunzel."
By the way, if you wonder why he dropped out of sight for several years after his unparalleled string of successes, it was by choice, not because Disney was tired of using him. He felt "tapped out" as a composer, and took some time off to recharge.
Loved it. Seeing it today for the fourth time.
Honestly, for those of you who thought the story was unclear, it's much better the second time. You can focus on details more, and it makes a lot more sense. Though it really should have been the work of the filmmakers to make the story clear the first time.
I think if Alan Menken hadn't left/been kicked out of/whatever the project, it would be my favorite Disney movie. Right now it's ranked at number 2, under Little Mermaid and its Menken score. (Though I did really like the instrumental score. I've always thought Randy Newman's instrumental scores were much better than his songs. I love the instrumental score in A Bug's Life, for instance.)

I thought it was good. The songs/music were fun but nothing spectacular. I can't even remember their melodies now. I just didn't find the appeal of that creepy looking firefly, he looks like Herbert the pervert from Family Guy. Prince Naveen on the other hand, a total hottie, right up there with Prince Eric! LOL
^^^
Hahaha! My niece likes him, too. Even though she thought the movie was just "okay," she's still talking about him 5 days later, how "handsome" he was. That girl is boy-crazy!
Oh dear there is nothing as sweet, innocent but retrospectively embarrassing as crushing on a cartoon. I say this as somebody with plenty of cartoon crushes (Peter Pan and Prince Eric were definitely up there).
It's even better when the actor that does the character is adorable. I hear that Bruno Campos (Prince Naveen) was also on Nip/Tuck *even though I've never watched the show before.*
Yes, he "received" very well on Nip/Tuck
One-half of The Carver aka the incestuous brother-sister team who basically turned pretty girls faces into something akin to Heath Ledger's face in The Dark Knight.
Gotta admit, I love me some Prince Naveen. He's definitely the cutest Disney prince.
Aw, look at them!
^ Is it weird that when I saw that picture a few weeks ago, it made me want to ship Anika/Bruno?
I met 'Prince Naveen' (and Princess Tiana) a few times at Disney World last week. BOY was he a cutie. Every time I met him, Tiana sort of got neglected, LOL.
He told me to give him a kiss and pointed to his cheek and waggled his eyebrows. <3
It's a bit embarrassing to be an adult swooning over a cartoon character, but at that moment, I didn't particularly care, LOL.

Holly, I was 5 and saw a live-action Peter Pan and I had some fanatical outburst of happiness. 12 years later when I saw Peter again (see what I mean), I did the exact same thing.

Was he the guy in that show a ways back with Christina Applegate??
^ Jesse? Yes.
He was also apparently one of People's 'Sexiest Men Alive' in 1998.

Yess. Peter is always a cutie, too. :) And I'm still young enough so that -ahem- 'Peter' is the same age or a little older than me. So it's okay to think that. LOL

I finally saw this tonight and I loved it. I didn't read this entire thread, but I will agree with the score. I personally loved the music, but I definitely don't think I'll remember the actual songs.
I was not a fan of Dr. Facilier. He came off sort of creepy and that was it. I loved Louis though. He was funny.
Visited the Disney store yesterday and had the urge to buy me a Prince Naveen froggy lol.
I just love this movie and adored all of the characters. The only one I didn't like, and it seems others would agree, was Dr. Facilier. It just seemed like he was being mean for the heck of it and that just kind of irked me a bit.
I also loved the music as well. I keep playing 'Down in New Orleans' and 'When We're Human' over and over again on my iPod!
I was just disappointed that they only gave Prince Naveen only one song to sing! I enjoyed his singing in 'When We're Human.'
YES, I really wanted him to sing more. He had a cute little voice.
His little solo in When We're Human is one of my favorite parts of the whole movie.
Disney should know by know that singing princes with personality are always their most popular. ;D Naveen, Aladdin, and Phillip are my favorites, in that order.

My mommy got me a Christmas ornament of a frog wearing a crown and a sparkly cape. I got... very excited! ^_^
Are some of you "Froggers" at the IMDb PatF board? *shudder*
^Seriously, people over there on any board scare me in general.
