With Parker Posey! yay!

"Celebrating a birthday this week: Rene Descartes is 412! Do you know who he is? Then why are you watching this show? You could probably get into college and even get one of those job things. As for the rest of us; Amanda Bynes is 22! Yay!"

I'm going to give it a shot because of the cast, but the show is getting trashed heavily by the critics.

Me too. I refuse to pass on anything that has Lauren Ambrose in it.

and Posie is just icing on the cake.

The writing better be worth these two actresses' time.

Yikes! That was awful! Bad writing, over-acting, incredibly annoying canned laughter. I can't believe this show is the reason Amy Sherman-Palladino bailed from the final season of Gilmore Girls.

The only positive? The formerly skinny-as-a-rail Parker Posey is now showing some curves.

I only saw the last 5 minutes of the first show, and the second show wasn't too bad. Ambrose and Posie are doing the best they can with the material, which isn't completely horrible.

I will be trying for at least 2 or 3 more episodes.

Dianne Wiest was the best part of the second episode. I hope they write the parents in more.

I DVR'd it and finally watched it last night. It wasn't great. Barely held my attention and I didn't really laugh when I was paying attention.

I love Parker Posey but she deserves better material than this.

Wow--I couldn't believe how poorly done this pilot was--not funny, the worst directing I've seen in some time on tv and a complete waste of Posey's talents--somebody get a real director QUICK! The script's not too bad, but it's filmed with a complete lack of skill and by someone who has no idea how to capture Posey's talent.

I finally saw this yesterday and was completely horrified by it. What an awful show! Oh, and what part did Erin Dilly play in the second episode?
There's a few basic problems: bad writing, terrible direction, and an incredibly un-funny and irritating leading lady (sorry but Posey doesn't seem to have the slightest idea about sitcom acting, she's way too broad and forced, like she is constantly TRYING to be funny and thinking she's succeeding). Lauren Ambrose tries to save the show but you can even tell she is so uncomfortable delivering those crappy lines...plus her role is written as a bad impression of Claire Fisher.
Arden is adorable and it'd be nice to see him share scenes with Ambrose...unfortunately, the writing is just dull.
Also, I can't see why they chose to do it as a multi-camera series. Single-camera might have made the show at least somewhat more enjoyable.

re: The Return of Jezebel James tomorrow night

At times, Lauren's gorgeous red hair distracted me enough to forget that the show was so awful...unfortunately, the camera would switch to Posey and I was back in reality.
I don't know why they cast Parker Posey and Lauren Ambrose in this. Posey is a terrible sitcom actress, she was painfully unfunny in WILL & GRACE where she got to play a role very similar to this one actually and her scenes were with the brilliant Sean Hayes, the contrast didn't help her. Ambrose is just a bit too edgy for a multi-camera, family sitcom, you can almost see her eyes rolling at every bad joke and corny sister moment she has to play.
Did they cancel it yet?

I had heard nothing about this show until last night while I was browsing itunes.

Too bad people agree that it sucks. There are two great leads

That's why I'm so disappointed. The actors are all excellent...but the second I heard the laugh track, I knew it was over.
