An australian tourist is killed by 3 people (2 African americans) because they " were bored" & decided to kill someone. At least it was not a hate crime even though one of the little tykes said he hated white people. They had nothing else to do
Where is the outcry especially from those here who decried Trayvon Martin? I guess he does not rate
Move along Nothing happening here
*****Spoiler Alert*****
The racism screams will now commence

Yeah, the silence is so deafening in this two-page discussion about the topic.
It's being discussed.

People are just as appalled in this case as the other. What difference does the ethnic background of two of the alleged assailants make to the story?

Posted: 8/22/13 at 9:32amI actually didn't think this was a race motivated crime, however, a report on CNN found that both African-American assailants had tweeted hate for "white people" on more than one occasion. Roxy, you're still grabbing at straws and this is in no way comparable to the Trayvon Martin situation... But I did think that find was particularly interesting.

Roxy, you can't oversimplify this to white-killed-black-outrage should equal black-killed-white-outrage. You have to look at the context of each situation, the circumstances, the bigger picture, etc. These are individual crimes that should be evaluated individually. White people kill white people too. And Asians kill Latinos, etc. You're looking at it in a racist way. You have to see them as people first, then look at the context and circumstances.

I'm really more interested, although I know he has always said he doesn't read threads because people respond angrily to him, if he can at least see that some of the anger is generated by accusing he board of deafening silence when the topic has been hot since long before the post.
Murder is murder is murder and should be treated as such and you can bet there will be a conviction (two of the alleged assailants were black) and harsh punishment ( two of the alleged assailants were black).

Wait, did the police abdicate their responsibility in this case, believe the kids when they say that the dead man was the aggressor, fail to perform standard investigation procedures that would prove or disprove the allegations of the killer, and leave the deceased in the morgue for 3 days without trying to contact his family?
Because, that is what the outrage was about, at least from my perspective.

I'm out of the loop - isn't starting a thread like this trolling? The only purpose is to incite people?
Roxy -
Instead of trying to ask why there's no discussion (when there has been) - how about you give your opinion on the matter.
Otherwise - can I start posting random thread why NO one has DARED to comment on the new haircut I'm sporting. What is WRONG with you people?!

Oh thanks. This is actually a picture from about 10 years ago. Yikes. Maybe I should update that!
I was being sardonic...

I think yesterday's discussion where there was a distinction made between trolling and being a troll was helpful. I think the fact that Roxy has been here forever and stuck at it through thin and thinner and the fact that he contributes to discussions devoid of trolling all put him in the "Non-troll who engages in occasional trolling" column.
I'm less interested in the trolling aspect of this thread than wondering why he assumes people aren't outraged and saddened by this incident and why he presumed no one had discussed it here and how he feels after being given evidence to the contrary?

I agree completely, Namo.
But as you've pointed out, he may well not return to this thread. But I have no idea how he could have missed the other one.

As long as you realize he'll never respond to this thread again (at least not respond to any specific questions asked of him) because apparently his wedding gift to the Mrs. was his balls.

1) This story has been reported massively. MASSIVELY. Google it and see. There are something over a million stories on the net already.
2) The outrage many of us felt over the George Zimmerman case wasn't that a young man was murdered- that happens all the time- but that rather the killer was going to walk free, unchastised. As the case went on, it got worse: The murderer was lionized and the victim pilloried.
3) Do you right-wingers have some sort of phone tree that tells you what to be outraged about today? You are like the fifth person I've heard from today who wants to conflate the two cases.

No, Roxy has a wife who tells him what he's allowed to think and feel. I heard a rumor that on his birthday she actually lets him have his balls back for the day.

I would have a modicum of respect for Mr. Roxy if he at least explained his point of view and continued in a discussion he himself initiated. But no, he starts a thread filled with inflammatory accusations with the clear intent to incite.
It's like the guy who throws the stone and then hides and sits back and watched the chaos that ensues as a result.
That is just downright trollish...AND Republican.

The story has to be coming from somewhere because it has no basis in fact. None. This has been ALL OVER the news- front page of the paper, top story on cable, even my local radio station that only does a 3-minute national news at the top of the hour has reported it.
So what in the world gave these idiots the idea that there was "Silence" on this issue?
