I am not reading any of the posts in this thraed beyond the initial one because I know someone is going to give away too much. So, I may be reapeating what has been said already. My partner and I love horror movies and we've both been disappionted with everything taht has come out this year so far. This is it, my last hope for a good horror movie, one that will scare me and keep awake, one that will make afraid of going into the basement to do laundry....oh, wait, I'm already afraid of that.
We saw The Devil's Rejects recently and thought it was terrible compared to House of 1,000 Corpses...where the hell is Karen Black when you need her? The Amercian versions of Japanese horror movies are egtting old fast. The Japanese really know how to work a theme to death. First we had 500 versions of Godzilla and now The Ring, over and over. Ok, I get it, water is scarey when it comes dripping out from an unknown source....it brings overly made up dead children with too much hair product that look like rejects from a NIN concert.
I'll see Skeleton Key this weekend and hope for the best.
and to answer your question, yes it does seem a bit over hyped but then almost every movie does. I'm sick of looking at Jessica Simpson skinny, underdeveloped thighs everytime I turn on the tv and have to look at her in her Daisy Dukes.
