The thing on his neck definitely looks blue on my computer.
Maybe his lemons look bigger too.
once again, something died in my pool.....got sucked into the poolsweep, had to cut it out of the basket....not sure what it was, but think it had bird feet.....
No, I think they just look big.
eeew. I've had so many dead animals in my pool. The saddest was the baby bunny.

Yes. It was so upsetting. He was like... the size of my hand. He fell in and drowned.
Bleeccchh.
I was just eating some breakfast.

ewww poolkill. The grossest are the chopped up frogs in the filter.
Well, I guess I am done with that oatmeal now.
Frog puree, great.

I can officially say that prom is the most anticlimactic experience ever. People were making out on the dance floor and there was major boob-and-crotch grabbage going on. If you're in absolute love with your guy and you want to do that, fine, but I didn't feel comfortable doing that with someone who I'm not remotely attracted to. I think he was somewhat disappointed because I get the feeling that he likes me, but I'm sorry, I'm not grinding with someone I consider a friend. Hell, even if we were dating, I'm not exactly the type to start sucking face in the middle of the dancefloor.
So, we lingered around for most of the time. I wish I could have just hung out with some of my girlfriends, but he would not give me any space whatsoever. The post-prom party was considerably better, but again, I felt so closed off from all my friends because I was stuck with him all night. I won every game of blackjack that we played, so I ended up with six bottles of shampoo, six free tanning sessions (I go like, one or twice a month, and never in the summer, so I probably will use about two of them), two bottles of hairspray, pedometers, and a few other assorted things (I know, strange prizes!).
I'm glad I went to prom, if only to see what I wasn't really missing out on for the last two years. Maybe the experience will seem better in retrospect, but last night definitely wasn't one of my favorite nights. I look the same in last night's photos as I do in the photos from trying on my dress a week ago, but I thought I'd post at least one photo, so here:
You look so pretty!

Thanks! But... it sucked. Nia, you're not missing out on anything. Heh.
Wow, you do look great.
What a beautiful color dress!

Thanks -- the bottom is incredibly poofy and my date kept stepping on it!
Oooh, I just found another prize in my purse -- a haircut with, apparently, a $40 value... ? That's not too shabby!
My sister won a little microwave and some picture frames at her prom after party...odd.
Aww, at least you got to wear the gorgeous dress and look regal, Lexi. My brother had his prom last night, and I think he was satisfied with the way it went.... but this is coming from a kid who got stood up for his junior prom!

Geez, you guys. Who funds these parties? Our prom parties were always held in a field. Sometimes they brought in a band or a DJ. Bring your own tent! They charged about $5 to get in, and I'm sure they used the money for the band and a couple of porta-potties.

Thanks, Ash. I don't know, maybe the experience wasn't so bad in itself, but it certainly didn't live up to the hype. Keep in mind that I'm also a picky person who's hard to please.
Allie, rich parents and various sponsors throughout the area fund the parties. I suppose the money made by prom tickets helps to fund the party as well. There was SO MUCH there -- bowling, heaps of food, a velcro wall, sumo "wrestling," poker, blackjack, Bingo, movies...
Many of the prizes were relatively expensive, too. They were giving away two iPod Nanos -- I'm not really an iPod fan, but I wanted one! The girl who won one of them was all, "OMG, what's this?" and wanted to exchange it for, like, a movie. Oook.

Our school is pretty damn poor. We don't have a junior prom, and we start raising the money for our senior prom in 9th grade. And then we still end up having to pay $150+ in senior dues, so we usually raise enough.

...various sponsors throughout the area... Eek! I guess prom parties are very different! We get police, you get sponsors. An incredible amount of under-age drinking goes on at prom parties around here (hence the police).
The Grads get a party every year called "SAFE Grad", where everyone sleeps over at the school, and they have movies, food, games, things like that. But they usually just pick a random night. I've always thought that it would be better to do it on prom night, or graduation night, because it would take the place of one of the drinking outdoor parties.

I found prom really anti-climactic too. Then again, my limo driver got lost so we were 2 1/2 hrs late, so that sort of set the tone for the evening.
Your dress is really, really pretty! Prom kind of sucks but at least you'll always have the pictures. And won't be left wondering what the "magic of prom" is all about.

And on the other side... I had a BLAST at my Grad prom.

The Brown Bunny is a really horrible movie with no point.

Downtowndiva, we were late as well due to poor service at the restaurant. Oh well.
Does anyone know how to turn off the constant "____ has written on your wall/___ wants to be your friend" emails from Facebook?
I'm home!
And I missed you BWW bitches.
Aww Lexi, I'm sorry to hear that your prom was kinda blah. But hey, you looked pretty and won free stuff, so it's all good!
I've heard of sponsored after-prom parties before, but the idea just seems so strange to me. In NYC, everyone just goes to a comedy club with their limo after prom and/or a house party. I love how my most vivid prom-related memory is the boy I had a crush on all year getting completely wasted at the afterparty and gnawing on a kitchen cabinet :-P
