I think that I'm going to try to go to bed too. 'night!
I looked in the databases I have access to, as well -- they have stuff in PDF, but it's too new. I hope you can find it, though.
Goodnight to all going to sleep. I should do the same.

I don't get it.
I got a 4.7 last quater and a 4.5 the rest of the year
I'm in the top 5% of my class
All of my classes are advanced
I usually test well
I haven't had more than one B on any report card this year or last- and last year it was almost all straight As.
I thought I was one of the smart ones. I guess not. God. I feel like such a F*CKing retard, especially after seeing how well everyone else did.
*curls up in to a ball of inferiority and hopes to die*
My flight to New York was canceled. I was pissed depressed angered ect.
WE were not near the front of the ticket counter. The lady before us let us go ahead of her because we have college stuff and are going on such a short trip. We got the last two tickets, that woman is my one of my new favorite people.
I should be in NYC by 230 *knocks on wood*
I KNEW this was too good to be true

Nia, your definition of bad scores and the general population's definition of bad scores is probably quite different. I'm sure you did better than you're letting on, and if not, you can always retake it. I'm sorry to hear that you're not satisfied, though.
Also, I know a lot of people who do well in school but didn't get stellar scores on the SAT. One of them still got into UPenn because of his work ethic and various extracurriculars.
*comforts Nia* You are not a retard. I'm sure you did fine, especially considering you said you were falling asleep during one part, right? And you had already resigned yourself to taking them again, so you'll do better next time. The SATs are stupid and pointless, because studies have shown that they don't predict at all what they are trying to assess: how well you'll do in your first year of college. They really are just a sophisticated form of torture that is becoming outmoded. More and more people and colleges are realizing how unimportant they are. You'll be fine. If you're really worried, you can always try taking the ACT.
*hug*
I would definitely be one of those people who had a really good high school record, and less than great scores. And it IS possible to mold your application so that you have other things that admissions officers will be interested in. Also, I know you're not applying to all liberal arts schools, but test scores are becoming less and less prevalent.
Nonetheless, Nia, I'm sorry you're not happy with your scores. I definitely have been in that position. I've cried many a tear over those damn numbers. And know that right now they might seem like a huge deal, but two years down the road, you won't even remember what you got on your SATs.
Nia, I don't know how much this will help, but because the SAT is new (you're one of the first to take it, aren't you?) I think it's been expected that the scores will be sort of weird, and that's why a lot of schools for the next few years are going to put less focus on them than they normally do, and than they do other stuff. You know you aren't stupid, and the test never was and still isn't an indicator of intelligence, at all. You also can't compare the new scores to the old scores; it doesn't work that way.
Anyway, chin up. You can take them again.
Yeah, I know my university is barely considering SAT scores in admissions for the next few years, just because the averages and such haven't been worked out yet.
Have you considered trying the ACT? I know some people that felt they didn't do well enough on the SATs (pre-test change, regarding average scores of people that got into the school they wanted) and got great scores on the ACT because it tests you differently.

Today is just a big ol' pile of suck.
I agree, SG. It's a very stereotypical Monday.
I'm sorry you're disappointed with you scores, nia, but as others have said, you can always take them again or try the ACT and since it's a new test format they might not be quite as big a factor in admissions next year. Grades are such a better indicator of intelligence and drive than standardized test scores.
cookie, your avatar is very hot. Rodrigo something, right?

BAHHHHHHHH. I must have a good night's sleep tonight. Between the slight ringing that still remains in my right ear, the giant headache, and all the sh!t I'm worrying/fretting/otherwise becoming upset about... *slumps* I want my mommy.

I came across this photo in Postsecret and with all the hype about the movie, I thought I'd share.
I wish I could meet the person who sent this in and tell him/her that it's just a book/movie and that it's FICTION.

Thanks, guys... I'm trying to be ok with it, but I didn't do nearly as well as I knew I could in the reading and it makes me doubt myself. On the other hand, I've had so many other things happen today that I haven't had time to dwell on it. I guess that's good.
On a lighter note:
Today in English class we read a sample world lit paper for IB. It was about how food was used to characterize various people in two different books. I feel compelled to share this sentence with you:
"Like purely physical sex, eating cream simply yields an immediate pleasure and satisfaction in its consumption."
Yeah, that could NOT have been an accident.

Atrias, that's amazing. Congratulations.
I just realized that hardly anyone will be around because they're all going to see the Rent concert and I feel a bit depressed. I'm not sure why.
Thanks Nia. We'll be around to console each other later!
