It's not really upsetting to me, but it can freak me out. There are some things happened a long time ago but feel really recent, while there are some things that happened really recently, but feel like they happened a long time ago.

I'm so, so glad that this wretched year is almost over.
I(will)B an overworked senior next year. I swear, someday I will find out who invented the International Baccalaureate and kill them.
What are everyone's summer plans? We know Emcee will be interning. I'll be in summer school Health (I don't have time to take it during the year) and getting a job- probably working five hours a day again like I did last year- in addition to all of my summer homework.
Maybe not upsetting. But unsettling.
If I glance at your avatar really quickly, Bohemian, the colors make it look as though Adam is wearing a cowboy hat. I've done like three double-takes already.
Maybe I need to sleep more.
Do you have that hideous state health requirement?
I... bleh. It's not looking good.
I don't have any plans for the summer. I hardly ever do. I'm sure that something will come through for you, Emcee.
My adviser forgot to mail his recommendation letter, so the one that probably would've been my best chance got f*cked, because they don't consider *anything* that's late.
You just... sit around all summer?
I'm working at a day camp from 9-1. I'm not looking forward to having to get up at 7:45 five days a week, but it pays $12.50 an hour.

That really, really bites, Emcee. I'm genuinely sorry. It sucks when OTHER people mess up your chances after you do everything right.
So Bohemian, that means you'll be bored? How would you feel about reading Posession and writing a couple papers about it? Would you do it for free?
ETA- What kind of camp, Fantabulous? And at least you don't have to sleep there with the bugs.

I don't really have any plans for this summer..I'm hoping to get some sort of summer job. In August, I'm going to Arizona to drop my sister off at college.
The worst part is that he is one of the sweetest, most genuinely kind people I know, so it was hard to be mad at him. Like, he just honestly forgot. I know he's busy, but I was still really pissed off. I reminded him a bunch of times, and I gave him like a month's notice with all of the info and deadlines. I couldn't stay mad, but I'm really disappointed.
ew, bugs. BUT, one of the nice things about camp is when parents tip. :)
I'm really hoping that I'll be working at National Geographic this summer. I'm also travelling to Texas for a wedding, to California and to NYC. If I have any time, I'm going to volunteer at my mom's school.
That sucks, Em. I hope that something works out anyway.
Sure nia. :P I've never been a camp person. I'll probably take a few dance classes, and hopefully start riding again.
Just a regular day camp, in Manhattan. I did it last summer, but I was a substitute counselor if anyway got sick or went on vacation. It's like 1 hour on a roof, 1 hour in gymnastics/music/dance, 1 hour of arts 'n crafts, and lunch. Then setting up time before the kids show up and cleaning up time afterwards.
When I go home, I often find myself looking at some random thing from 6 or 7 years ago and finding myself drawn right back in to how things were back then. Sometimes, it can be fun, but my middle school years were not the most pleasant time in general.
As for my summer plans, I've applied for a few internships, but seeing as I haven't heard back from any of them yet and the field I'm interested in is one where it's hard to get an internship before junior year I'll probably end up working at the same place I've worked for the past 3 summers. Even though it's not really building up my resume to work at a law firm when I want to be an actuary, I'd be making at least $10 an hour and it's around the block from my summer housing.
The one I had an interview for on Friday said they'd call either way in about a week. I'm petrified.
I miss arts and crafts. :)

Camp in Manhattan? That's such a wierd image, even if it is a day camp. I'm going to do volunteer work at a camp for underpriviledged kids, which I did last year too. I tend to hate children, but some of them are really sweet and sad... the things they go through are horrible, and the regular counselors don't give a SH*T about them, so I try to talk to them and stuff.
And I've got to start my big essay for IB and college applications.... *quivers*

It's in the basement of a synagogue, not like, on grassy acres in Jersey.
I liked camp as a kid. Not as a counselor. But I didn't get paid, so it was essentially slave labor.
My hand is now.... almost numb. I'm slightly concerned.

About this summer housing stuff.... if a college kid from Ohio wanted to intern in New York, could she stay in a dorm room in a college there, even if she never attended that school? Would it cost a lot extra, would places even hire from out-of-state?
Yes, no and yes, but it depends on the school. I think the costs tend to be fixed, regardless of where you're from.
BG, NYU is big on housing non-students, isn't it?

Are the costs fixed by the college I'll be attending or the college I'll be staying in? I mean, I can't afford five thousand dollars or so for three months in NYC.
Summer housing is *totally* separate, financially, of tuition and housing during the year. The costs vary quite a bit, though, depending on what kind of intership you do, where you're staying, if you're willing to share a room, if you're willing to suck it up and live without AC, etc, etc. It's all determined by the school where you're staying, not the one you go to. ETA -- that was not clear. Sorry. I mean that being from out of state doesn't vary how much it costs, but the other factors do. Sorry to confuse you.

Thanks for the info.
Sorry to interrupt with my dullness.
I suddenly got the urge to do work. I love when that happens, I get so much done.
