um, it's huge ALL over the world....much less in the US.......not just huge in Europe.

I had the honor to see the 1974 World Cup final between Germany and Holland in Munich. What people in the US don't understand is that's it's not like a school-school, or a city-city rivalry......but it's country against country....much more exciting. To be in those stands in one of the home countries of the teams playing, and to witness germany winning was an event I'll never forget. People partied all night, and it took 3 to 4 times as long to drive back to Karlsruhe as people were going crazy........absolutelt fantastic.

My husband was stationed in Korea during the 2002 World Cup and he had an amazing time. We have video from the street parties and celebrations and I would have loved to have been there to enjoy it. One of these days I will go to a World Cup.

my country will win again, for the sixth time...
funny story about Pele- in Brasil he is so flippin respected that he was driving and at a stop light he was resting his arm out the window(wearing a rolex on his wrist) and a robber came up and grabbed it off of his wrist. the robber then looked back to see who he had stolen from, saw it was pele- so he put it back on pele's wrist and profusely apologized. sorry really random, anyways
i got to Brasil the day we won last time, omg- the entire country was partying.

when the World Cup was held in Korea, it was MADNESS. Sooo many red shirts.

I was in Ireland during the 2002 World Cup it was CRAZYYY. I was walking down Grafton Street (a really famous shopping street in Dublin which is usually PACKED) and it was deserted cuz Ireland was playing and all of sudden Ireland scored and the ground literally SHOOK and everything erupted haha. it was amazing.
