Thank you, Besty. That photo of "Naked Santa" has put everything into perspective. I now hate Xmas, which means I don't have to be bothered with ANY of it.

How about worshiping the birth of a half-human, half-genie baby?

I recall the Christmas episode of Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip where several characters were pointing out the many falsehoods of Christmas. Like how Christ was actually born in the spring, and in 5 A.D., how the Star of Bethlehem is a comet, and how Santa claus was basically invented by Coca-Cola in the early 1930s. There's some perspective for you.

C'mon now. All we need to bring it back to where it should be is CAKE! It's jeebus' birthday. Why is there never a birthday cake on christmas??
Hmmm, wonder what kind of ice cream that is. And you'd think they could have cleaned up that cake plate a little. It is for jeebus after all.

Besides, you try and fit that many candles on a cake!

After years of being anti-Christmas and all it entails I've decided this year to embrace it on my own terms. This little hat from Walgreen's made my day!
And allow me to show you my first Christmas decorations ever, a little place I like to call Phyllis's Secular Holiday Village.

Well, if that guy in the fatigue santa hat is going to come down my chimney on Xmas Eve, I suppose I could rethink my rejection of the holiday this year.

I don't mind his being a big 'mo. I don't want to date him...I just think he'd be fun to rock around the xmas tree with!

And my favorite part of Christmas: listening to and watching Jewish entertainers celebrate the birth of Their Lord:

Of course, Barbra Streisand's speed-freak rendition is so wonderfully in the spirit of Christmas-Beside-the-Point that it's been lipsynched to by an astonishing array of fake performers:

You mean to say that drag queens perform that number?
I'm shocked!

Phyllis- I love your Christmas village and youre soo cute with that hat.
We (me & Chris) used to decorate for Christmas but not anymore....When we (my family) used to live in Hawaii.. my folks have this horrendous aluminum Christmas Tree ...and it always blew our house's fuse..LOL ! and we hung Filipino lantern outside our house. All the Filipino houses in Hawaii are sooo tacky during Christmas season. One Filipino home outdoing another in terms of the most tackiest decorations ever conceived.

Folky, I had that on tape as a kid! Do you remember Leanne Rimes in Holiday in Your Heart about ten years ago? It made no sense. At all. Bernadette Peters was in it, though.
And thanks, Jay!

Hell yes! I emoted all over the place!
They needed a mop to clean up the mess.
And Jaystarr,
We ALL know how much you like Ru Paul's Christmas Album.
It's just that she's an ass of a human being.

When I was about 12 we got an 8-track player as a "family" christmas gift- do of course we wanted to play ti RIGHT AWAY. The only 8-track Xmas album we had was Robert Goulet's Christmas. We played it overandoverandover. I still have it memorized. I was SO excited when I found it as a $3.99 CD a few years ago.
