Interesting concept. Kind of like the Baskin Robbins/Dunkin Donuts cross-branding. Two junk foods that don't really go together but still do.
Oh, and I think the appearance of the Jonas Brothers on the cover of Rolling Stone, along with the recent cover featuring The Hills folk, means it's time for Calvin to let his subscription lapse (no matter how many $10/year offers he gets in the mail).

I let mine lapse a couple of years ago and found myself glad I never took them up on their $99 lifetime subscription offer. I was starting to like Matt Taibii after at first not, however.
In the new issue they gave the Jonas Brothers 4 stars and compared their powerpop to Big Star and Cheap Trick and said that grownups have to reconcile what good stuff often came from bubblegum. I listened to excerpts from their new album on iTunes and it just blows.
Miley's new one, however, is just as calculating as Coldplay is, but so much more listenable.

I have to interject here because I'm clueless about the Jonas brothers having any talent.
Did someone along the line tell any of them that they could sing? Or is it a given that they can't, and this is just another scam to attract the little girls?

Here's the lede from the Rolling Stone review:
"History teaches us not to dismiss kiddie pop." They lay out a pretty good argument. I just can't agree with their critical assessment of the brothers. I mean, if you're gonna invoke Big Star and Cheap Trick, the songs better back that up in some way.

First, I'm a little shocked at the adjective "fantastic" they used to describe the album. Three out of four stars? Or was it four out of five.
Well, now I know for sure I'm wayyyy out of the loop. Agewise, that's an understatement, but I'm sorry-maybe I haven't heard enough Jonas Brothers music to judge, but I have seen and heard them on tv several times, and what I hear coming out of the singer's mouth is someone off the street who decided he's a singer. I don't want to hear any more.

I believe the Jonas Brothers play their own instruments and write their own material. Isn't that the only qualification for street cred these days?

I'd really like to have sex with a Jonas brother. Although that's probably more to do with the fact they're all determined to wait for marriage and I like the idea of corrupting a pretty boy with bigger eyebrows than myself than it is to do with any more genuine desire...
