Because she's gorgeous, hot, and immensely talented. She blew me away with her Rose when I went in expecting to be completely underwhelmed.

I love Bernadette because she has the total package. She's beautiful,can sing, dance and act. Plus everytime I've met her she was just the sweetest !!!!

I've only met her once, Boobs, soon after she had had to pull out of a benefit I was working on. When I introduced myself at an opening night party and she realized who I was, she was gracious and sweetly apologetic.

Well Annie, to be fair...I've met Idina after "Rent" and "Wicked" and she was always very gracious and sweet to me. My friends who have met her NEVER found Idina rude either. I believe most are just vicious rumors that jealous people make up.

I've loved Bernadette ever since DAMES AT SEA (Off-Broadway, 1968 ).
Her style is unique and CANNOT be imitated! (Although MANY have tried.)

I loved Ms. Peters in Gypsy, but I first fell in love with her through Sunday in the Park With George. I still consider her Dot to be a masterwork.

Even as a gay man, her Vargas covers for her albums (back when they HAD albums) were some of the most stunning things I'd ever seen. And M_E, I agree - an absolutely UNIQUE talent, and one of the most potent. I finally get to see her in concert next spring, and I can't wait!

I've loved Bernadette from tv/films for many, many years. My first stage experience of her was INTO THE WOODS. One of the best theatrical moments of my life.

Annie...even when I saw Idina in "Rent" her and Taye were the last two cast members to come out. I guess she just takes her time getting ready to leave and she does seem pretty shy to me and maybe overwhelmed by all of the fans. I'm sorry you didn't get to meet her. Hopefully one day you'll meet her and your bitterness will lift.

I can't, because there are just so many. Ultimately, Bernadette has a special transcendent quality that sets her apart from other talented performers. Her mystique inspires a unique devotion.
I do find it amusing that the "Idina controversy" manages to pop up on practically every thread, no matter what the subject heading.

Well, I didn't find out until later, but my first exposure to her was as the voice of Maria the singing cat on Anamaniacs.

I absolutely ADORE Bernadette so greatly much! I am actually listening to "Song & Dance" currently. I hope to go to the Lincoln Center library soon and see the video there.
She is such an inspiration, and a truly genuine person, who is very great to idolize. She is so real and unique on and off stage.
Bernadette just sparkles with beauty, intelligence, talent, and love for what she does and people.
She treats everyone as though she's known them all of her life and as if they're best friends.
She blew me away in GYPSY as well as on a few DVD's that i have seen. I am so utterly flabbergasted by the immense talent a person can have and only hope to one day match the profound talent by half and to get to meet her face to face.
