"At the opening night party, they had clowns on stilts, jugglers, a chocolate fountain, popcorn, hot dogs. [My son] looked at me like I had been holding back. Like, 'This is what you do?' I had to tell him, 'No, no, darling. Opening nights don't usually look like this.' It's usually a dark bar with a bottle of vodka." ?Chitty Chitty Bang Bang's Jan Maxwell plus i proudly share the title of the shortest member over the age of 10 with wickedrentq!

re: Keeping the Thread Alive

Emcee- next time he does a show I'm dragging you by the arm if I have to.
And hang on, when did you win the discus?

re: Keeping the Thread Alive

I felt this thread needed a bump...just because he's not doing a show at the moment doesn't mean we don't still love him!

So, did you all read his interview on the main page? It made me tear up a bit. And now I've been motivated, and my goal for 2005 is to create a puppet, take a picture, and mail it to Johnny.

His interview was so sad. I'll admit I was on the verge of tears too...re: Keeping the Thread Alive

re: Keeping the Thread Alive

Anyone know when his next Joe's Pub show is?
#244

re: Keeping the Thread Alive

No, but I was so disappointed because my last trip to New York was at the end of February, and I didn't think I would be there in time for the show, so I didn't buy a ticket. Turns out, I got there around 4 on the day of the show, and couldn't go.

re: Keeping the Thread Alive

So, I don't know what Johnny is doing in this picture, but it makes me laugh.

*sigh* every time I listen to him sing "Purpose," it sends shivers up my spine. And then I get this idiotic grin on my face...so yeah, if I'm ever walking around, smiling like a moron, you can pretty much bet that I'm listening to Q.

And it inspired me to carry around a penny from the year I was born.

re: Keeping the Thread Alive

Hey! Thats a great pic- where did you find it? Oh and...perhaps I should carry around a penny with my birth year on it...I need some luck!

re: Keeping the Thread Alive

nope, he was supposed to update his blog weeks ago but alas, the poor guy must be busy. I've heard some talk of a TV show or a puppet class he may be teaching and possibly going to start the Las Vegas run but nothing is certain yet. We shall see when he updates re: Keeping the Thread Alive
