I'm not offended but I am a recovering "cutter". Countless suicide attempts, severe depression, etc etc the whole lot. It's not something people just do...I don't know how many people have actually done the research on it. Not many true "cutters" do it for the attention, alot them serious take more pleasure in causing pain to themselves for various reasons, the most popular being "I don't deserve anything good, pain is the best I can do." It's a serious self-esteem, self-worth issue and I will be the first one to tell you I have an extremely low self-esteem/image/worth, but I'm working on it.

Oh, Guido, I'm sorry if I offended you! It's really the ones who flaunt it who I have a problem with! My best friend just admitted she has been doing it for a year now, and I know several other people who are recovering cutters or have attempted suicide. I don't have any disrespect towards them, just sympathy. But I do get angry when Camille shows me her arms and is like "Well, this one is from a week ago, and this one is from last night, OH, and THIS one is from..."

One of my friends has been doing it for an insanely long time, and she doesn't flaunt it or anything. But then there are people who are just odd. Like this girl I know who carved "Nick" into her arm, hoping it would stay so she'd always remember th guy she was obsessed with in 8th grade.

I know what you mean, Delphie. I just hate people who act all goth because they want to be different from all the popular girls so they get together in little clans and listen to the same music as each other and dress the same way and complain about conformists. I have no problem with people with genuine problems. I just hate those little fakers who have no idea about their real "personalities" and think their problems are more imortant than anything else.

A lot of the "Goths" think they have real problems, and I'm sure quite a few of them do. But I'm also sure that there are a lot of them that are just average kids with good-enough home lives and a fair amount of friends. My cutter/suicidal friend (who has luckily overcome all of this) has real issues. Her life is a hell; I really don't know how she gets out of bed in the morning. But she has a wide group of friends, listens to the music she likes, and dresses what fits her fun personality. She doesn't need to wear black and listen to Evanescence or whatever. And I respect her for that, no matter what she does to her body for release.
And Monkey, I stick safety pins into my hands and feet. It's really fun!

I sterilize the pins before I stick them in. And I don't leave them in for more than a few seconds. And I never stick them in deep. No blood, nothing. And I only do it on the thick skin on my hands and feet so I don't feel any pain. Yah, I'm a wimp.
