Last night, I did a Dakota Fanning double feature. Uptown Girls and Man on Fire. Although Dakota is not teh greatest ballet dancer (Were those plie's????), she is an amazing actress, for such a little girl. I adored her and her naturalism in Man on Fire. There were many times when i was not seeing her act - which makes an actor so much better.
I really hope that she maintains this, the way some child actor's have in the past (Portman, Birch, Marjarino)

And let's not forget her moving performance in "I Am Sam".

This girl definately has a future.

"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

She is outstanding, and she looks great in "War of the Worlds". I think it's funny that peopel are ALREADY getting sick of her. I'm telling you, this girl is getting an Oscar nomination soon. She hasn't stopped working for years, and shows no signs of slowing down.

I'm rather shocked at her talent as well. She might be the first child actor since Jodi Foster to break away from her childhood and go on to a full and well-lauded career.

She bothers me too. She's obviously preternaturally talented (Haley Joel Osment must HATE her) but there's something about her that I just find unsettling.

Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

Hehe...she and Haley will duel it out to see who wins an Oscar first. Then they'll probably get it on.

I'm so sorry!
I should have mentioned Mary-Kate and Ashley.
You know, those girls rank right up there in talent with Paris and Nicole.
That's hot!

If she's really that talented let's see her play a stupid kid. :P

I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter

Uh, Mary Kate and Ashley are nowhere near as talented as Jodi Foster, let alone Dakota Fanning. At Dakota's age, those girls were reading cue cards, and spouting out lines with no emotion (There's a reason why they were video queens - no way in hell would they have made money at the box office)

BUT, I have to say, Kirsten Dunst has had a great career, as well as Natalie Portman. Wish I could say the same for Thora Birch, but she's a Lifetime Moviegirl now.

Um... the reason the Twins are straight to vidio is simiply the fact that they can make more money that way. Mary Kate was offered the role in I Am Sam, but Ashley wouldn't let her take it unless it was re-written so it was twin girls. Sean Penn said no and the rest is history. New York Minutes failure to egnight the BO had nothing to do with the girl's talent. The fault was Eugene Levy's humorless performance and his ugly face.

What about the failure of "It Takes Two"?

Hello! There's a reason why Steve Guttenburg doesn't get much work, and that has to do with the Olsen twins.

I bet you're going to tell me that Paris Hilton is an AMAZING talent because she's rich, and her accidental porn films make more money than her actual films...

Doesn't matter how many films you make, or how rich you are - that doesn't mean you are talented. The Olsen's videos appeal to young kids. When I was a young kid, I thought Big Bird was a great actor.

Justice, have you ever SEEN an Olsen film? If you would do me a favor and rent the DVD of New York Minute (the bloopers and deleted scenes are worth the price of a rental alone.) Then come back and tell me the girls don't deserve everything they get.

I would never waste my time or money. If I wanted to see a cokehead, I'd rent a Charlie Sheen movie.
And, also, I've seen their work...Not impressive enough for me to care.

Sue...I just can't take you seriously...
And Dakota was not bad in the Cat in the Hat movie. I actually thought it was kinda cute.
Still, you can't compare a constant working actress to the talentless twins (Who's PARENTS helped produce their videos...just like Ashlee Simpson's)

well, Dakota was good in I Am Sam, but come on, the Cat in the Hat?? EVERYONE in that film should be banned from Hollywood for all eternity. Besides, the kid is only, what, 6 years old and i'm ALREADY sick of her! I think she's creepy because she's not really a kid, she's more like a 35-year-old woman in a midget's body. It's odd....

BTW, Sueleen, WHAT the heck is that in your avatar!?! yikes!!

Look out for Annasophia Robb. That Wynn-Dixie movie was a flop, but she's Violet in the upcoming Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. She can act, and one look at her face will tell you she will mature into a magnificent beauty.

justice- Did you see "Taken" on scifi. It was Dakota at her finest.

Can no one ever sense sarcasm when it's present?

I love Dakota. Plain and simple.

The first time I saw Dakota was during "Taken" and I thought she was brilliant in that movie. It was like a Miko Hughes (sp?) performance where it didn't seem like acting and you really felt sorry and scared for this little girl. Speaking of Miko (sp?), where has he been? I know he had dad problems, but he needs to get back to doing movies because that kid has got TALENT!!!! I mean, he was in diapers in PET SEMETARY and gave the best performance in that movie and scared the CRAP out of me. "Daddy, I want to play with YOOOOOOOU." *Shivers*
