takehomeazak06, your right. I was in both Ragtime and Le mis.
For me, I couldn't understand the story by seeing the all-state production. It was very hard to understnad what was going on the whole time withought knowing the musical. RAGTIME was the best experience of my life and the best production of all-state ever period. Everyone compares and always will compare everything to ragtime becasue of those amazing leads and the amazing orchestra. The Le mis leads and singers were also amazing, but for some reason the story just wasent told. Fromt he orchestra stand point, the entire orchestra this year was from Glenbrook North and South and Vernon Hills. Basically 3 schools made the pit, which could have been much better. In ragtime there were over 14 sschools represented in the pit. The legend of ragtime will love forever.

This isn't exactly theatrefest related, but I wanted to post it somewhere.

Our school just had auditions for "Disney's High School Musical." I go to University High School in Normal (where Pippen was at Theatrefest a couple years ago). It is a school of around 600 students. Over 100 students auditioned for the show, 64 were called back, and 48 were cast. Is that amazing or what? 1/6th of the school auditioning for our yearly musical! High School Musical may not be the best show out there, but it's sure getting a lot of good people involved in our Theatre department who never would have been before. Our shows do tend to be very high quality for our size and budget, so I'm looking forward to getting started with it. I was cast as Kelsi, the playmaker. It will be my first non-chorus role, so I'm really very happy. I actually get to accompany people onstage too.

If anyone's interested, the shows will be April 12th, 13th, 14th, and 15th. Our director predicts they will be sold out. I don't know about that, but if anyone wants to come, let me know!

Okay, so it's a little late in the game, but I've always wanted to do this. I LOVED with a fiery passion PIPPIN. In fact, our school loved it SO much...it's our musical this year. I'm only bitter because It's going to be FREAKING AMAZING...maybe...and I didn't make the company. I don't know. We're on a low budget and our director put in a bunch of pommies who can't sing and have never done theater before and ousted a bunch of four-year theater veteran seniors for underclassman. I think he'll discover Thespian blood runs thicker than water the hard way.
But I was absolutely in love with Libertyville and the Pippin cast at Illinois Festival 2006. It was the most heart-warming, uplifting feeling in the world, even only after the first act! Our school walked away with the jitters, it was so amazing. It was the show to see. And Pippa Soo was fantastic, and I was spazing when I went the next year to see she was one of my favorite Les Mis character Eponine at All-State 2007. I liked her over the professional show I went to see in Chicago. I am definetly a fangirl of Libertyville's theater. I just wanted the world to know how much I heart you guys.

The stage is not my life, but my lover. "It's kind of like 'Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend' except more like, 'Implements-of-Destruction are a Girl's Best Friend'."

When both Javert and Eponine are both from the school, you can't help but love Libertyville!

By the way, is anyone considering auditioning for the All-State show this year, Parade? I went with our school's madrigal group to sing the national anthem in Brayden Auditorium, where All-State will perform, for a Founder's Day program at ISU. I just stared into the vastness of the backstage area before we had to perform and got chills. To be so close, yet so far away!

Then, of course, I realized that every time I walk on our school's stage, I'm walking where Pippa once stood...re: Theatrefest~Illinois (this is a joke, in case my humor isn't transfering over the computer.)

I apologize again if a spring was poking your rump during Pippin. If ISU would just cough up a little dough, we could get nice seats that were all the same color, instead of varying shades of puke yellow. Actually, if they could just tear down the whole school and start over, that would be good. A pipe broke and flooded our light closet in the auditorium the other day; I sacrificed my clothes and shoes to rescue the precious instruments as hot water was rushing in from the ceiling...our school newspaper even wrote an article on it...https://www.uhigh.ilstu.edu/clarionette/News%2006-07/02-05-07/02-05-07-leakage.html. Our school is a very exciting place.

SarudusStardust:
I just did this, and I remembered your post from a while back so I though I'd mention it. If you were to navigate to THAT SITE, and type in "Pippin fest" you will see a nice memory of one of our school performances before Theatre Fest.
