Posted: 9/18/06 at 9:15pmMacbeth back in 2003. Not a very good production, but im proud to say ive moved on to better things. I think itll just be exciting to come back and see people from the last 30 years. And with the offer to teach a few classes, I figured why not. It sounded fun. Hopefully ill see you there.

Oh! I love Theatre Fest! Last year was my first year going. I was a player in the production of Pippin last year. Definitely worth going, and I will see anyone who is gonna be there this year!
And Theatreboy33, you say you were in Macbeth. What did you think of Frawley?

Posted: 10/13/06 at 11:35pmTonight, I saw the play at our school that will possibly be going to Theatrefest. I have to say that it was very good and I was very impressed. We did Shakespeare's Twelfth Night and I was surprised that I could understand it. I didn't think I would be able to. Anyway, when I find out if it's coming or not I'll let you know, and then you should all come and see it!

Our play, Charley's Aunt, was evaluated two nights ago, and we've been recommended to Theater Fest by both of the evaluators. This is basically a miracle given that one of our male actors got sick the beginning of tech week, and our assistant stage manager had to take up the part with a script onstage. (I'm the stage manager, and we had a male assistant so that we could both "understudy" the roles of our genders). Then, for our final dress rehearsal, another of the main male characters had gotten his face hit by a baseball and split his eyebrow open. While he was in the emergency room getting that taken care of, I played his part on stage. I only ended up out there for one scene though, before he arrived. Needless to say our show was a bit crazy. Then, the night the evaluators came, the actors somehow managed to skip four pages of exposition in the script. They came back to it fortunately, but that was a bit crazy as well.
The point of my story is our show may be going to Theater Fest. We might not make the final cut because we've taken quite a few shows recently, and they take that into consideration when selecting who gets the venues. We'll still be coming to Theater Fest anyway if our show isn't accepted.

Posted: 11/30/06 at 6:19pmI will be at theatrefest this year. Im in the pit orchestra for the all-state musical. I was also in the All-state production of Ragtime, two years ago. That had to be the most amazing prodcution ever. Directors everywhere still talk about it and with good reason. Anyway, I believe Le Mis is just as good this year. I play horn in the pit, and I hope to meet some of you down in Champaign.

I'm so excited! We're all kinda bummed we don't get to do the whole hotel thing cause well, we live here. But it will still be a blast. I look forward to meeting you all.
This is when it would be so helpful to have like, a BWW pin or something to be able to recognize people with.

Posted: 12/1/06 at 8:16pmIm very glad to hear that there will be some Shakespeare at fest this year. Also,if I'm not mistaken, a production of Urinetown was accepted from Lake Zurich High School, which I will be very eager to see. One more month!

Hornplay: I agree with you, Ragtime was the most amazing production ever. Everyone from our school was in awe, and some adults who'd seen it on Broadway, I believe, said they thought it was just as good.
As to meeting...I'll be backstage for Charley's Aunt in Lincoln Hall on Friday morning. I'm the stagemanager. I'll also probably be drafted into the tech olympics as a knot tier if our school can still do it with our show being that morning. We got second place last year, and our school won a light. It was pretty exciting.
Oh, and if Urinetown is there, I will most definately be there too. We were possibly taking a trip and seeing Urinetown in St. Louis, but that fell through, and I love the music.
P.S. Did anyone see Footloose a couple years ago? Or Still Life with Iris? Oh, Good Times!

My school's orchestra director is conducting Les Miz, so lots of my orchie friends are in the pit. *jealousness*

Wow, I haven't posted anywhere on BWW for a while!
Anyway, yes, a school is doing Urinetown. Les Miz IS absolutly amazing - when it's all said and done, it'll be better than Ragtime by leaps and bounds (and I, too, was in awe at Ragtime - still the best experience I've had in a theatre). Also, our school will be performing Children of Eden on the Saturday of the festival (10 and 2). It's a terrific production, with at least 3-5 performers that either would have been in Les Miz had they auditioned, or will almost certainly make an All-State show over the next couple years.
Also, a school is doing Honk: Jr. And some school might be doing Into the Woods. Our director wasn't sure on the fourth musical - which is unprecidented, BTW.

A school IS doing Into the Woods. Our director basically told us the list of what shows are coming after my friend and I asked if she knew if Urinetown would be there. I wanted to go see ITW, because we did it my freshman year, but it's the same time as we'll be putting on our show, so I guess it's not a possibility. I was "the birds" in the show. I came onstage with birds dangling from a stick and shook them around. It was probably quite a humourous picture.
It sounds like our All-State tickets are for Saturday morning, so I'm excited about seeing Les Miz then. I believe that our school usually leaves early on that Saturday though, so I don't know if I'll be able to see Children of Eden, which one of my friends was really excited for.

Wanted to bring this back since it's happening this week.
I'll let you all know whether our show, Charley's Aunt, will be worth seeing after we run it on Tuesday. It was pretty scary before break. Hopefully those onstage will get it together.

Posted: 1/1/07 at 10:11pmI'm getting a little freaked out because I haven't gotten any info about it since I signed up. We're supposed to leave Thursday night, and we go back to school on Wednesday. I guess I'll have to talk to our drama teacher since I haven't found out anything yet.
