Anybody going? Or has anyone ever gone? This is going to be my first time there and I want to know if people liked it or not.

I will be teaching a few classes at the Illinois Theatrefest mostly on Shakespeare's verse and perhaps a college introduction course. Hope to see you there.

I've been to Illinois Theatre Fest the past two years and am going again this year. Going to Theatre Fest gives you access to great workshops for both acting and tech and you get to see shows by schools all over the state. I would definately go if given the opportunity. This year, our school is entering a full-length play, so I may not get to do as much as I'd like. However, getting to see Les Mis done by the best theatre students in the state will definately make the trip worthwhile.

WC-yes, they're doing Les Mis. I might go just for that(J/K). I turned in my permission slip and money today so I can go on the trip! I'm very excited. Our school is hoping to take our fall play. We're doing Twelfth Night, so it should be fun.

Haha no way I turned in my stuff today and a question was Why to you want to go? I put to see les Miz. haha We are doing The Nerd although Im not in it.

Awesome! It's being held in my town this year and I'm going with our thetare troupe. We're not entering anything though. Are any of you in Les Mis?

I'm not in the play that our school is doing, and the only people from our school who are allowed to go are people who are in the play and anyone who's a Thespian. I filled out a card to become a Thespian and my induction is in November, the only reason I filled out the card was so I could go to Theatrefest and see Les Mis.

We did Les Mis here right before auditions for all-state. A bunch of my friends from that tried out and a few got in. I can't wait to see them!

I love the Illinois Theatre Fest! The world's largest and oldest high school theatre festival!

I'll be in the All-State Les Miz!!! I'm the Bishop/ensemble. We have rehearsals for one weekend each month, and then all week come festival time. We've already had two weekends, and let me tell you - it will probably be the the best show you'll see for years! Everyone is just amazing. Everytime we do "One Day More!" I start to get chills in my spine. I won't say too much more, except you will not be disappointed. BTW, if any of you saw Pippin last year, the two leads are both inLes Miz - Pippin and the Leading Player, who's Eponine. We keep telling her she's practically a celebrity in Illinois!

Also if anyone's interested (especially Chicagoland people), we plan on having an "open non-dress rehearsal" on the Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend. We won't be in costume, but the amazing (and ORIGINAL, that's my favorite part!) set will be in use, the lighting will be appx. what we'll have at U of I, and of course all of our amazing performances. It'll be at Deerfield High School. If you would like to know more, PM me, though what I said is just about all I know at this time.

BTW, anyone who's going to the Fest should make sure you see Children of Eden. It'll be our school's show (minus me, of course, due to Les Miz). I don't want to seem too full of myself (our?), but 1) it's a musical, 2) we're from southern Illinois (just outside St. Louis), and 3) we are quite good. Those are all in our favor. So get your tickets before the "That's-the-guy-who-did-Wicked" syndrome kicks in. Of course, Pippin would have been the big ticket without the Wicked-factor.

Yep. It's in Champaign/ Urbana this year. It alternates every year between U of I and ISU, which is located in Bloomington/Normal, my town. Closer to the actual festival we should see if any of us will be staying in the same hotels. Oh, and if we do happen to get accepted, my school will be performing Charlie's Aunt. I'm stage managing. I didn't realize there were so many Illinoisans on these boards.

I didn't realize it either doll. I thought that this thread would sink to the bottom of the page and then end up being lost for all eternity, but I'm glad to know that there are so many people from Illinois here.

This is awesome! All you people will get to come see Krannert Center(where it's being held, I believe). It is my favorite thing about this town. And I can't wait to see all these fantastic shows.

Krannert is pretty awesome. Much superior to anything at ISU. I loved seeing Ragtime there a couple years ago. I'm really very familiar with ISU because our school is a "lab" school for it, and we're right on the campus.

Dancinqueen- Wesleyan's a great school! I don't have any idea what your brother might do, but our drama teacher is an alumus from there, and she loves to tell us how awesome their theater program is. We took a "field trip" there for our Intro to Theatre class last year to learn about set building and stuff. It was pretty sweet.

Doll-My brother doesn't do theatre or anything like that there, but some of his friends are involved in the theatre program there. It's a pretty small school so I'm sure he knows at least one person in the theatre.

Anyway, I'm so excited. If everyone here is going I want to meet you guys!

Hehe...I just read through jam man's post. Pippin was performed last year at theater fest in my school. I appologize if springs were poking out of anyone's seats. Actually, what really makes it funny is that our auditorium hasn't been approved for fire since the seventies...our director had fun with that...

Oh, and one of my friends loved Pippa-Sue (he put a picture of her on his myspace...), so I'm definately passing this on to him. I'm so excited already.

I thought of another reason that Theater Fest is awesome: You get out of school, at least I do. We come back from winter break on Wednesday and leave for Theater Fest Thursday night.

I'm pretty sure that happens to me too. I know we leave on a thursday night, but I don't know if it's immediately after our winter break.

ETA-Just checked and I go back on a wednesday and leave thursday. Yes! That's going to be so awesome!
