Why don’t people follow the rules any more? When did we become a country full of people who would rather do whatever they please, instead of being courteous to our fellow humans? It’s gotten very bad over the last couple of years, and if something doesn’t change, I really can’t see a positive future for our society.
Within just the last couple of days, there have been so many times that I have just stopped to ask myself, “WTF? Did that just happen?” For example, driving down a one-way street and coming upon a woman who has not only double-parked her car, but she had parked it in the middle of the road with its doors open so that no one can get around it. She is out of the car and chatting with a friend. I tapped on the horn because I couldn’t get by and she turned around and started screaming and flipping me off. She slammed her door and as I squeezed by, as she continues to scream at me. I got to the end of the street and was waiting at the light when I noticed, in my rear view mirror, that she had gotten back in her car and was racing up behind me. The SECOND the light turned green, she honked her horn and started flipping me off. Now, I’m sorry, but I don’t think that that was even necessary….
Maybe I’m rambling, but I was so mad when I came home last night I wanted to punch someone. The double-parking thing was just one of MANY things that have happened over the last few days and you know what? I’ve grown tired of the people who think they can just go around and do whatever the hell they want, regardless of the people who are around them. Yes, I’m speaking to those of you who want to take a cell phone call in the middle of a nice restaurant, or the person who doesn’t think that the rules of the road refer to them, or the people who think that they can just cut in front of a line of people to ‘just ask a question’. Get off the GD cell phone and DRIVE!
Rules and laws are in place for a reason… Some folks need to be told how to behave because they don’t have any common courtesy.
Anyone else have one of ‘those’ experiences?
Every day of my life.
I hope you at least flipped that bItch off too. You should have waited until the light was yellow to go and make her sit through another red light.
I know, I know, why bring yourself down to their level. But man, that pisses me off when it happens to me too.
Oh sweetie, I did.
I made her PAY!
double
This is a major pet peeve of mine. It happens every day, everywhere, and not only once a day.
People think the rules are for someone else, not them. It's hard not to become angry.
I want others to share their stories of people who have been rude...
C'mon folks, VENT!
LET IT OUT!
There are really too many to choose from-it's a constant state of being these days!
It's easier to list the times that people actually follow the rules and are considerate.
How about this one?
Being stopped at a light at an intersection...
Light turns green and I go. I notice a set of headlights coming at me REALLY FAST from the left and I jam my brakes on just in time to see it's a COP screaming at the intersection at 90 MPH and the @sshole doesn't even have his flashing lights on! Just as I'm thinking, "He's gonna hit me", the cops snaps his siren and lights on and squeals past me.
This happened twice within 5 minutes...
OK, OK, here's one before I head out to work (ugh). On the subway, there are lots of people who take up 2 or maybe 3 seats. They put their bags on a seat, and then sit slanted so as to take up 2 seats with their rear end, or the guys who sit with their legs as far out as possible so as to intimidate you into sitting next to them.
Also on the subway (I think I mentioned this once before on another thread, but what the hell)
The ***holes who stand in the doorway and don't move so anyone can get on or off the train, and then have the nerve to be belligerent about it.
I work at a bowling alley and at some point my job may end in a customer slaughter.
Particularly those who come up to the front desk while talking on their cell phone and attempt to get through the entire transaction without saying anything while I try and mime what I want from them, really buddy its okay I'll guess your shoe size...
or...OR...
People who go bowling in groups of ten, they want to bowl together on lanes next to each other and will go beserk if we can't accomodate that at 8pm on a saturday night, but then they want to all pay separately, and while I'm ringing up 10 separate transactions of 6 dollars each because god forbid they attempt to pay together they have the nerve to ask...where's my shoe?
Or, at the movie theatre, when you tell someone to shut up - and then they act like THEY'VE been wronged.
Don't get me started on those damn cell phones and the over-entitled people who can't breathe without them.
Oh, I agree. I wish cell phones had never been invented sometimes.
What I really hate are the blue tooth TOOLs. These tools that walk around with think blinking apparatus on their ear. They walk through the supermarket, speaking at normal volume, pissing off EVERYONE that's around them. Can't you just wait until you get home, THEN make the call? I don't care who you are, but NO ONE is THAT important to be on the phone so often.
And don't get me started on the people at the movie theatre that type on their sidekicks the entire 2 hours.
or people who wait in line for 10 minutes at starbucks and wait until the get to the cashier to decide they want this...no, that...no wait, maybe this, is this fat free?...etc.
People on both sides of the register at Starbucks! The annoying customers Taz mentioned (who are always directly in front of me) and the 7 people running back and forth behind the counter doing absolutely nothing while one person is on the register, one person is making the drinks and the line goes out the door.
Or when they make someone else's drink before yours, when you ordered first.
It happens to me all the time, and I always have to go over and say "Um...do you have a venti iced coffee coming, or not?"
The one on 47th and Broadway are especially bad. They're SO. DAMN. SLOW.
people in the express lane at the grocery store with 5 or so too many items and then pay with a CHECK!!!
The totally sane-looking guy on the crowded rush-hour train on Friday morning, who cursed me out LOUDLY because I asked him to move his legs in closer together so I, carrying a large heavy duffel bag, could sit.
I stood.
God, when I went to see H.M.S. Pinafore on Friday, the guy next to me was straight-up mouth open, head back, snoring. I seriously nudged my elbow into his arm a couple of times. If he didn't wake up, I was about to slap him and ask him to go to sleep in the lobby.
The weirdest part was that he was there alone. Not dragged along by a wife or anything.
Two words... high school.
Two more: College Students.
What is that supposed to mean?
