Things get heated on "The View"

Posted: 10/6/08 at 10:56pmI was so disappointed that Joy wasn't on today! I was pretty proud of Sherri for standing her ground and getting up in Elisabeth's grill! I thought it was funny that right before the commercial break, Elisabeth was still ranting and making some comment as to why she was being cut off. Then, when they came back- it's as if nothing really happened!

It would be nice and fine to have a conservative woman on the show who like Joy and Whoopi and Sherri and Barbara offers her opinions on the subjects.
What's nauseating is having someone who lists the talking points everyday and offers almost only partisan points.
If I want that, I'll watch cable news with the usual hardline talking points pundits. But I don't like watching those because you always know what they are going to say before they open their mouth.

Posted: 10/6/08 at 11:31pmYeah- didn't you just love how when Sherri talked about how comfortable she was with Biden's experience- Elisabeth turned and threw in McCain's name. Sherri quickly snapped that she was talking about the VP debate. Also loved when Sherri said she thought a debate was when you answered the question that was asked and then got time for a rebuttle. The audience was definitely on Sherri's side today- good for her- for a change!

Posted: 10/7/08 at 7:06amAre you people still talking about her again? Then I guess she's playing her role the way the producers want, garnering your attention, and won't be going anywhere.

Posted: 10/7/08 at 11:23amYeah, but Sherri still knows bupkis about anything. All of a sudden she comes out with "McCain usually does very well in town hall debates." Like she's been following his political career and monitoring his debates all these years. She probably was told to try and bone up on some current events so that she can make a cohesive statement.

"kinda like Sarah Palin?"
Nope, not like her. I think Sherri is pretty stupid as far as humans go.
Palin may have to bone up but she's not a stupid person. At least that's MO

Well, I'm not kidding. I don't think Palin has a thought in her head that hasn't been crammed there by somebody else.
How does that make her superior to Sherri, who either was coached by the producers or decided to educate herself on the issues?

It's just the way I see it, Reggie, just my opinion. Whether Elisabeth forms her own opinions based on research, or agrees with other peoples' opinions and quotes them , I do believe that she is genuinely interested in politics and her "view". She's convinced me over the years that she is passionate about it. I don't agree with her but that isn't the point.
Sherri seems to be a person more interested in Dancing with the Stars and the tabloids. Those are topics in .which she takes a big part on the show. I don't give her credence with politics.
These are just my opinions, Reggie, and I don't really care that I'm the only one who has them.
I also do not think it's so horrible to listen to a radio talk host if that's the person with whom you agree, and I don't think there's anything wrong with quoting anything you hear in order to make a point. I'm sure it's done on both sides.

I hear you, Jane, and my opinions were my own as well.
And just as we're free to listen to whomever we choose, we're free to judge those people and evaluate their motives.
I certainly don't claim to know any more about either of these women than you do.

"I hear you, Jane, and my opinions were my own as well." But I didn't question or challenge your opinion.
you asked me what made E. superior in this case. and I was giving you my reasons for believing so-backing up my argument.

Posted: 10/7/08 at 3:15pmI could be wrong, but I thought he was talking about Sarah Palin being superior to Sherri? Like the non-individual thoughts issue?

"But I didn't question or challenge your opinion."
I didn't say you did. I was just elaborating.
I wasn't actually intending to challenge yours, either; I was asking a rhetorical question. Though I'm always happy to hear your thoughts on this or any other subject.
