you should.
you guys were awake at 5AM this morning... why?
Of course you do, you fool! The Seattle route can't be that bad, can it???
Not just the Seattle route, but everything else that's gone wrong in the last few days was really wearing on me.
But now that I'm thinking of flying from Seattle to New York, and then New York to Vancouver, I'm feeling a bit happier. (I can buy a one-way shuttle to Seattle, plus both flights for under $500, and not have to leave New York until 4:30pm - as opposed to 7am - so I'm content.)
Ugh. So I went to my travel agent a few hours ago, and I've got some bad news, guys.
You bitches are stuck with me for a whole week in October, because my flight is paid for, and I'm going to New York, baby!!
YAY! (I can say that because I won't be stuck with you )
Did you do the one-way thing?
Yup, I did the one-way thing, and my travel agent beat the price by $5, which is company policy. It's only $5, but what do I care? That's, like, a hot dog and a pop in the city!
My only worry is only now do I realize that I wasn't asked to pick my seats on the plane, and my itinerary doesn't list it either. Does that mean I'll be assigned a seat when I arrive? And what if the flight is overbooked? Will I be the first to be bumped?
You're assigned a place, so you won't be bumped. But you should ask what seat you're in and change it if you want to immediately when you get to the airport and when you check in. Go to the counter to pick up your ticket and ask about it there.
But if the flight is over-sold, and I arrive later than the over-sold people, the very last seat is mine, before they start to sell to the other folks, right?
Yep, that's correct. Don't worry, you'll be on that plane if you get to the airport on time!
*is a smart, experienced traveller*
Oh, I don't think I have to worry about getting to the airport on time. Thanks to the crappy QuickCoach schedule, I've got a full 3.5 hours between arrival at SeaTac and check-in time. The question will be how many times I can play cat's cradle alone with a hairtie before I shoot myself in the head.
I've never had it before where I wasn't asked to choose my seats in advanced...what if I get stuck between two obesos in the middle seat? (Well, Ellie's not coming in from that far west, so at least I'm safe from ONE!)
*is a smart, experienced traveller who's not used to slumming it on a bus, old-school style*
I can't believe I'm shuttling to Seattle.
*cries*
Hostel-ing it would be the last straw. I think I would lose my mind.
*watches dreams of Park Plaza party and stilettos fade away*
Sorry Tiff. But I did enjoy your picture slideshow just now. I'm so hungry that those greasy food pics (hot dog, pizza) made my mouth water. How exactly do you plan to pay for all that, though?
Hooray!!!! I was more than a little freaked when I saw the post on the U2 thread. I think I would have had to find myself a cheap flight to Seattle and taken that damn Coach up to Vancouver to slap you silly myself!
Gotta go to class, but I had to chime in that I'm so excited that it's all happening!!! YAY!!!
Yay!! I can't believe I'm finally going!! Unfortunately you missed my photo preview of what we're going to do when I there - Jose' said it was too much bandwidth - but expect to dine well and nurse your hangover for the rest of the week!
YAY!

So, ladies, we need to keep the dates of Friday, Oct 7, Saturday, Oct 8 and most importantly, Sunday, Oct 9 free! (Oh, and for Nik and Sivon, the night of Monday, Oct 10 free, too, for the concert!)
Oh, and try to keep Friday, Oct 14 late-night and/or Saturday, Oct 15 morning/early afternoon open too, since that'll be my last night and day, respectively, in the city!
PS. Oh crap! '21 Club' isn't open on Sundays!!!
PPS. Dammit, Tao is only open for dinner on Sundays!
Well, the point is, gals, can I make lunch and dinner reservations for 10/9 in the next few days? How many people will be around? Me, Siv, Nik, Nic and Ellie? Is Lael coming? Beka, can you afford it? We'll be out late on Sunday night.
Maybe I'll make reservations for 4 people for now...it seems if you want more than 4, you need to provide a credit card number to secure it.
The 10 day moving countdown has officially begun...
*poops*
Eww, step that way. The stench...
How excited are you??!
SO excited. And you know, freaking hardcore about the money.

i wrote the dates on my calendar... i'll work on it. no way i'm telling my parents about you guys... they get weirded out by ONE person i told them about whos my age that i met online, and you're all 3+ years older.
the money most likely won't be a problem, unless i blow all my $$ in the next month. the big problem is getting there. friday the 7th i have a field hockey game and saturday the 15th is PSATs. other than that, i just have to escape the parentals.
can someone IM me to bounce ideas off of? i have a couple, the best at this point is making up a BS photo assignment, and being out at night probably isn't doable.
edited cause i can't seem to type.

Just don't get yourself in trouble! And keep in mind that Ellie will be coming, so your safety is already compromised.
Siv, how long will your aunt let you crash at her place? Is she close to the subway?
Nikki, you, lady, have some s'plaining to do! (I was stupid and didn't notice the 917 area code, and thought it was Sivon bailing.) You know, that Monday's Columbus Day. Your classes should be cancelled, right?
ETA: Hey! Re: Hotel party fun, why don't we go for Radio City Apartments? $155 for a studio with two double beds. Only problem is it's only available from 10/9-10/10. However, since 10/10 is a holiday, do you guys have it off? Between 4 or 5 of us, it's a pretty decent price!
10/10 isn't a holiday for me (we get 10/13 for Yom Kippur instead). I've got class from 9-11 Monday. We'll see what's up, maybe I can blow it off. It's kind of a "we'll tell you what's going on on a class to class basis," so I don't think I'll know the deal on that until it gets closer. If push comes to shove, I can either bug out early in the am, or if you're already at a max of people I can just head back Sunday night. How long is Ellie staying in the city? Saturday at her swank hotel only, or is she there Sat and Sunday...or joining the Radio City Apts conclave on Sunday? Being a studio, do the rooms at Radio City Apts have fridges? Could be a plus, I'd imagine.
Tiff, have you made any more progress on numbers of people/places for restaurant reservations? Last month's credit card bill was pretty pricey, and I'd imagine this one will be too, w/ all my books, etc. So, I think if you're generally looking in the $30-40 range, I'll just pick one to pencil myself in on.
I doubt we'll be at a max of people. It would be me, you, Siv, Nik and maybe Ellie and Lael. Technically, the $155 price is for 2 double beds for 2 people, but what they don't know won't kill them. And there is a fridge, which is a huge selling price. I figure any leftovers (dinner? cake?) from Sunday can we stored for Monday's breaky!
Not much advancement on the restaurant reservation front. I think we can do $40 comfortably for lunch and dinner altogether per person. ($15/$25-ish?)
$40 for the day should be fine. Were you still planning on doing your super ritzy dinner too? Or are we just going to quasi-schleppy route all the way around w/ restaurants and the Radio City Apts...I'm all for the cheaper the better.
Tiffy, I'll be staying with my aunt until Nik and I find a place, so who knows when that will be? Ideally, I'm already out by the time you get here, but it also depends on the whims of the housing market.
