To skip or not to skip?

I do NOT want to trudge through the bitingly cold winds to work today. I DO want money. Advice?

re: To skip or not to skip?

On one hand, it's snowing---and the windchill makes it about five below.

On the other, I'm going to NYC next month with a VERY high maintainence girl that I live to take care of.

re: To skip or not to skip?

And let's think about the long term effects of skipping. You could lose your job, or perhaps just earn "negative points". Go. Bundle up.

re: To skip or not to skip?

I can't lose my job, I'm work-study. They can't fire me. Plus, my boss is really weird and has kind of a thing for me.

The other thing is, it's a GOD-AWFUL job...and there's nothing that NEEDS to get done. They're just finding a place for kids who need financial aid. And I'm exhausted from rehearsal last night.

re: To skip or not to skip?

Responsibility, lass! Don't make Auntie J come over there and spank your fundament. Go to work and get paid to do absolutely nothing, as opposed to doing it for free :)
Suzanne: I never use catalogs. I'd rather go in the store and see all the salespeople groveling and sucking up to you. Julia: Pardon me, I never knew they were so solicitous at the K-Mart.

Well, since you used an accent...

*sigh*

I really should go, shouldn't I?

re: To skip or not to skip?

Why, thank you! She'd better believe it...not only am I taking care of her in the city, I'm also paying for her plane ticket.

And I get paid $6 an hour!

Gah. Now that I'm going to work, I actually have to get dressed.

re: To skip or not to skip?

Not in NY!

Ha...I just got a raise, too. I WAS making 5.50.

re: To skip or not to skip?

Something's very wrong with this picture...I'm supposed to be there in five minutes, and I'm still in my underwear, talking to people on a message board. Gotta dash!

Talk to you chitluns later, darlings!

I *love* being called fried hog intestines. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy in my secret place.

Actually...it just made me hungry. *sigh*

re: To skip or not to skip?

Jailyard, is it really a good thing to mention "fried hog intestines" and "[your] secret place" in the same sentence?

re: To skip or not to skip?

It may not be a good idea, but it's a hell of a mental picture, isn't it? :)

re: To skip or not to skip?

I didn't skip. I might as well have, for all the work I did. Bloody ridiculous, I tell you! My boss didn't even show up until halfway through my shift; I was the only one in the building. But I got PLENTY done!

1. I listened to Alan Cumming's Cabaret twice
2. I checked my mail
3. I bought a phone card
4. I ate half a sleeve of Girl Scout's Thin Mints
5. I went to the dining hall and got a glass of water

This is all in a three-hour shift. My boss SAW me leaving! I would tell him exactly what I was doing, and he'd say, "Okay. Make sure you come back."

Friggin' weirdo. He transferred eight sixty-pound metal cases to the basement because the carpet underneath them wasn't straight. I got to bring them all back up again! Yippee!

Also, I found out that the building I work in violates a ridiculous amount of health codes. I found a notice about the paint on the walls, saying it causes headaches, nausea, and could cause brain and nervous damage with prolongued exposure. So, I've got that going for me. Which is nice.
