Toddlers and Tiaras

Alright, I know we've got some TLC watchers on here. Who's going to be watching tonight? I'm looking forward to it, in a twisted sort of way.

What time will it be on?
"You have two kinds of shows on Broadway – revivals and the same kind of musicals over and over again, all spectacles. You get your tickets for The Lion King a year in advance, and essentially a family... pass on to their children the idea that that's what the theater is – a spectacular musical you see once a year, a stage version of a movie. It has nothing to do with theater at all. It has to do with seeing what is familiar.... I don't think the theatre will die per se, but it's never going to be what it was.... It's a tourist attraction." Stephen Sondheim

Alas, there isn't a single available TV in my house at the moment. Keep me updated?

Rebecca is adorable. Her mom is just embarrassing herself.

re: Toddlers and Tiaras

My cable provider got rid of TLC a couple months ago, which is incredibly depressing because I love shows like this. I'm fascinated by pageants and pageant moms.

Is it sad that the thing that's bothering me most about this is the bad grammar of most of the program?

"You did good. You all did good today..."

"I probably gonna do pageants forever..."

Hmmm... I preferred Rebecca to Megan.

But then again I have no idea what they are looking for.

re: Toddlers and Tiaras

The hobbies and future goals and whatnot section for the 1-2 year olds was kinda cringe-worthy. Although, I did enjoy the winner getting to win the bet and go to the snake house as her prize, lol.

Living Dolls was better, in my opinion- I wonder whatever happened to Swan...

This Universal Royalty pageant is a joke! I mean, that's a national pageant and it only had a handful of participants! I also think they should change the rules to not allow all that fake stuff on the kids- what's the real purpose of it? The same with all of those overly ruffled dresses! If I remember correctly, Swan's story was very tragic. I thought I rememberd that her mom passed away.

re: Toddlers and Tiaras

I didn't watch it. My sister did, and she jumped up and said, "OMG, I saw Toddlers and Tiaras! It was SOOO CUTE! I wish I did those when I was little!"

I think she might've missed the point.
