The 26 pg. New Yorker Magazine article. (below) Long but fasciniating read. Not that anything about the cult of Scientology is anything new (to me). There have been eons of great exposes over the yrs. As long as there's a market for brainwashing, there will be Sci., unfortunately. (imo).

I dig this:

A survey of American religious affiliations, compiled in the Statistical Abstract of the United States, estimates that only twenty-five thousand Americans actually call themselves Scientologists. That’s less than half the number who identify themselves as Rastafarians.

That was one of my favorite quotes too. If anything ever comes of the human trafficking investigation I wonder if it will have any effect on the celebrity Scientologists like Cruise. I'm sure they will just claim they had no idea any of this was going on.

That New Yorker piece is terrifying. Not that I didn't already think Scientology was scary.

Interestingly enough they had a little table set up yesterday at the Jackson Heights/Roosevelt Ave subway station. Sadly they seemed to have quite a decent number of people stopping to listen to them.
