I think Atkins does work. I've lost 35 pounds since February 1st. And I feel great about myself. I've read up on South Beach Diet, and I liked Atkins better... I think Atkins is quite easy. I thought it would have been harder, but it wasn't. I mean, I'm only 14, so I'm always eating on the go, to go to dance, theater, finish homework...not to mention lunches for school, and I was always taking sandwiches and stuff like that, and I was a total junkfood-junkie. I needed to lose weight, and so, 35 pounds down, I'm one of the happiest people now.

Not to mention the fact that your risk of colon cancer shoots up with all that meat. This site might be informative on the Atkins diet for you. http://www.atkinsdietalert.org/highprotein_report.htmlhttp://www.atkinsdietalert.org/highprotein_report.html>http://www.atkinsdietalert.org/highprotein_report.html I just took a Health Class and based on what I learned in there I would not reccomend Atkins to anyone. Health goes beyond getting rid of fat.

This is why South Beach is better. You can eat lots of carbs--just not the bad ones. No counting.
It's a lifestyle choice---not a fad or a temporary thing. I have taken this on much like one would if becoming vegetarian.
From time to time, I eat naughty stuff--but my body doesn't enjoy them anymore, so I actually don't want that stuff often.
The Atkins (or Breyers) sugar free ice cream is a life saver!!!!

I've known a couple of people that had success with Weight Watchers. This is another diet that focuses on changing the way you eat to lose and maintain the weight loss.

About 6 years ago, I shed 150lbs in a year.
I was eating healthier (no more McD's or Burger King and all that crap) and walking everywhere. In all honesty I think it was the walking that did it and my metabolism has increased tremendously since then. I actually can eat fast food again... actually, last night I sat and ate a whole pizza myself, but we won't go there haha.
Seriously though, when I say I walked everywhere, I really did. I lived in a fairly residential neighborhood at the time, and would try and walk at least an hour a night. Toss on your sneakers, grab your discman or your MP3 player (or hell, many a time you could catch me walking all over the place catching up with friends on my cell phone) and just walk... if you have to go someplace and it's a beautiful day out, walk there instead of driving or taking a bus or subway (obviously unless it's a billion miles away, but you know what I mean).
Whatever you do though, DONT starve yourself or cut the amount of food you're eating tremendously. Just change WHAT you're eating. Contrary to popular belief, if you suddenly begin eating only very small amounts of food it's going to take you twice as long to lose the weight you want to.
If in Heaven you don't excel, you can always party down in hell...
