Posted: 11/28/12 at 3:54pmIt's actually not bad. A lot of it is filmed here in Victoria (Hatley Castle, which is now a military university on the island, is used for a ton of scenes--it was also the Xavier Academy in the first three X-Men films), so Stephen Amell is always wandering around here--unfortunately not shirtless.

Posted: 11/28/12 at 5:12pmI just started watching the pilot last night! I gave up halfway through. I can see nice abs in porn followed by the other interesting body parts. But in Arrow, his abs were as tedious as the script and the direction. When he practiced his archery on tennis balls, I'd had enough.

Posted: 11/28/12 at 5:33pmIt gets a lot better. Show runner is Greg Berlanti who is very hit or miss (his run on Bros and Sisters, Broken Hearts Club, Political Animals).

Posted: 11/28/12 at 7:04pmIf you are into the Green Arrow comics, he may be second-tier DC but when he has a good writer he is like a mix of Bruce Wayne, Robin Hood, and Tony Stark ( and thankfully Jeff Lemire will write for him since his New 52 arc was meh), Berlanti does a good job bringing out the show's universe. I know people were fans of the Smallville Ollie/Green Arrow but to me that felt cheap. I know it has been accused of being a Nolan-fied DC character but I always thought grit and darkness worked for the character than say a Flash or Green Lantern.

Posted: 11/28/12 at 8:44pmI agree, Strummer (no big surprise). I think Green Lantern is pretty adverse to ever working on screen--outside of cameos in Justice League cartoons. It just comes off as too ridiculous.

Posted: 11/29/12 at 8:24amI've been enjoying it. The voice over can get grating after a while but I think it is really starting to come into its own.

Luthor Mansion on Smallville as well.

I'm hoping she gets into an industrial accident and suddenly gets a sonic scream

Surprisingly, the series has held my interest for the entire season. But, I disagree with the assertion that the Laurel character is useless. Every successful show featuring a hetero male superhero needs a p.o.a to serve as his biggest distraction. However, for some odd reason there's more sexual tension between Oliver/Archer and Felicity than between Laurel and him. IMHO Emily Bett Rickets who plays Felicity is the show's true hottie.
PS: I just discovered that Katie Cassidy who plays Laurel is the daughter of David Cassidy of Partridge Family fame for all us old-timers on board. Damn...I feel old now.

see and to me this is why Laurel is useless... because of Felicity, who is a waaaaay more interesting character and the actress has better chemistry with Stephen Amell...
i guess I'm also irked with the actress who plays Laurel... there's something about her that i can't quite like about her.. i can't tell if it's her portrayal or if i just find her to be not a good actress... she also bugged me on Supernatural...
