Andrew is snarky, and he looks like he might punch someone. That would be a Top Chef first, I believe--someone getting kicked off the show for physical aggression.

But then again, didn't Trey so something to Marcel?

Cliff was tossed from the show for putting Marcel in a headlock and holding him down so his head could be shaved.

Ugh..that was disturbing.

Nikki's lasangna looked amazing last night. Oh and I am right now sitting just a few blocks away from Pizzeria Uno.

What did you think of Spotted Pig, pab?

And Rocco used to have an AMAZING restaurant called Union Pacific--I think Reichl gave him 3 stars.

Bourdain is definitely a straight shooter and quite a good writer--Kitchen Confidential is a hoot...and a gross-out.

Bayless is amazing, but I think they should have Alice Waters, Barbara Kafka or MFK Fisher for the hardcore foodies.

"What did you think of Spotted Pig, pab?"

I really enjoyed it. There were four of us and one of my friends has the Pig's Ear which was SO much better than anyone expected. All of our dishes were really good. The place was very crowded and since you can't make reservations we had to go over the wine restaurant and have a few glasses until out table was ready. We were upstairs where we ran into Sam was waiting to go up to the third floor which is apparently reserved just for other Chefs or people in the industry.

edit: We were on a fine dining and theatre trip and we had some of the best food of our lives during that week.

I can't wait to go back to Craft Steak House. We may go back for my birthday. It was great the first time we tried it.

I love it when restaurants serve lasagna in individual dishes like that. Looks so fancy!

Alice Waters, Barbara Kafka or MFK Fisher? Where are their restaurants?

Alice Waters has a fantastic restaurant in San Francisco called Chez Panisse.

She's a fantastic woman and she's credited for single handily creating "California Cuisine".
Welcome to Chez Panisse

Yep--Alice is chef of Chez Panisse in Berkeley and is thought of as the mother of the local food movement.

Barbara Kafka is a food writer and author of many cookbooks, including a brilliant one on roasting and the ONLY decent microwave cookbook--an extremely knowledgable woman

MFK Fisher is the Studs Terkel of the cooking world--a world-famous author best known for HOW TO COOK A WOLF.

I loved Spotted Pig as well--I have yet to get over the beet salad with smoked trout, creme fraiche and chives or the much-heralded gnudi.

Lincoln Park Zoo - what a great setting. Cafe Brauer is a lovely venue.

I like it better when there are interesting and conflicting personalities. It's more fun to watch. So far, I think this season is a little boring. Bring on the talented chefs who also have personalities!

Le Petite Fromage and Jane2, I hear you. So far I really like Padma this season, but I wish they'd replace Tom C. I can't stand him. He always has that puss-face for an expression. Ironically they liked the elimination challenge dish of the girl who got the boot.

I hate that Rocco guy who was on the first episode! He has had so much work done on his face he can now blink his lips!

I like Rocco Dispirito. He's arrogant, but cute.

Hey, my future husband Dale is in Chicago! Maybe he and his cute mohawk will drop in this season!

Isn't Dale still dating the guy from Project Runway?
re: Top Chef Chicago

Last night's ep. was so obvious...as soon as Ryan was so heavily featured, I knew he was going home...though I think the Aussie should've gone. There's no excuse for an unclean workspace.

This is a bland cast...I wish they'd have Gail on every week. I cannot stand that smug Colicchio douchebag.

Dale dated Jack??? The one with the hideous nose job who left because of a staph infection? Dale just lost a few points there.

I thought the infection was from the kewpie-doll nose job. His face looked like someone played Russian Roulette with a Mister Potatohead. I had to look away every time he was interviewed.

When he had the infection, his upper lip was so swollen he looked like the nurse from that outer limits episode about plastic surgery...or a duck.
