Tracy Morgan Calls Being Gay a Choice

Besides, it's usually only gay MEN who are so hung up over the choice/born thing.
Many lesbians freely admit that they were initially attracted to BOTH men and women and subsequently chose to love women or only one woman. For them there's nothing offensive about the word "choice." That's what it was for them.
I think the initial article was hyping this to create a controversy, maybe even at the instigation of Tracy Morgan's publicist.

I totally agree with you PJ. And I have, historically, found lesbians to be remarkably patient with their gay brethren going on and on with the "we were all born that way" line.
One thing I find hilarious about Tracy Morgan playing up his craziness, is he positions himself as a freaky deaky. He went on and on in some interview about loving anal sex. It's really not hard for me to believe that somebody who purports to be so out there and edgy about sexuality would realize, "Hey, I bet HIS butt is just like HER butt!" and realizing that the distinction is very very minor.

Posted: 11/11/09 at 12:27pmI guess the answer lies with people getting over themselves and giving up on trying to fix something that isn't broken. The arguments back and forth over the Brookstone employee had me so frustrated I couldn't fall asleep last night. If we live in a world where simply speaking of your fiancee can cause a person to call you a deviant, get himself fired and garner the support of hundreds of right wing nutters, I shouldn't expect more from people.

Agreed, the proper response to the idea of gayness being a "choice" is "so what?" I wish more people who said that gayness is a choice in public ever got asked that question as a response in public.
Whatever. I'm sure folks at 30 ROCK aren't happy about this.

On the other hand, reasonable people are coming around to thinking people like this guy are fighting what's inside themselves more than anything external.

Posted: 11/11/09 at 12:50pmI remember he was on The View once and they were talking about ways to get out of military service. One of them said that you could say you're gay and he said, "No, don't say you're gay, don't say you're gay. That sticks with you!" It irked me a bit at the time, but I didn't necessarily take it to mean that he was a full blown homophobe, so I dunno.

I was perusing Yahoo Answers when I found this question.
This was one of the answers:
...I personally cant see why a man would want to put his junk in another mans butt. I mean, have you guys SMELLED what you do in the bathroom? Its like death/nuclear rot. Seriously. A mans butt is the nastiest place in the world. I personally find gay men insulting. Is a woman not good enough for you?
I'm just saying, like a lock and key, there is a reason the woman has the "lock" and the man has the "key"
What a maroon. I actually reported her because it falls under the hate speech category of their community guidelines. In my opinion anyway:
Venting, ranting or using hate speech
Yahoo! Answers isn't a soapbox to vent personal frustrations or rant about issues. We are a community of people with diverse beliefs, opinions, and backgrounds, so please be respectful and keep hateful and incendiary comments off Yahoo! Answers

Posted: 11/11/09 at 1:09pmWell, she's right. Nothing stinky ever comes out of a woman's Lady Business. Ever. Not once in history. Babies glide out of there as swiftly and cleanly as a suppository. There is no such thing as menstruation. Lady Business + Man Junk = Lock + Key.

When she made this analogy I wondered if she had to wear a chastity belt.

Ok, but what about when they want to put their junk into a lady's butt? I guess either straight guys NEVER do that or women only crap Bounce sheets and bottles of Axe.

Where is the genetic evidence that one is born gay? There isn't any. What is wrong with choosing to be gay? Now granted you don't choose a sexuality like you choose the color of sweater you want Nanna to buy you for Xmas.
But on the other hand if "choosing" to be gay gives you a life of happiness what is the problem?
I think the "you are born gay" chant is sort of an excuse for behaving a certain way. Blacks who say "well I did not choose to be black" are full of sh*t because sexual preference is not the same as ethnicity.
The bottom line is we are all entitled to happiness and equal rights. Period.

There's nothing wrong with choosing to be gay. I think people would feel there is something wrong in admitting to that or claiming that as the reason they are gay, because then they would be lying. Genetic evidence or not, you don't choose who you're attracted to.
I think it's just an argument of semantics. There's offensive baggage with both "why would I choose this horrible life!!!1" and "being gay is a choice". But at least the self loathing emo fest of "why would I choose this" is based on something real. For me, "I chose to be gay" is not a reality based point of view.

women only crap Bounce sheets and bottles of Axe.
I think this would smell worse than actual crap.
Then again, I'm a vegetarian, so I might have a distorted perception.

I don't care what he said. It ain't gonna make me stop watching him on 30 Rock. I love him. If gay people can like Eminem, then THIS gay man gave love Tracy Jordan. Morgan. Whatever.
I just love that this has been a story all day and no one can tell me what he actually said. I would love if he was just telling some story about whatever crazy sh*t he's on about and just said - "You know what? Being gay is a CHOICE!" - and then just went back to whatever the hell he was talking about.
