I have to say I'm disappointed. This doesn't grab me at all.
So it's a Scottish Mulan
I don't know. Pixar has surprised me in the past both positively (Up) and negatively (Wall-E). The film looks cute, but the trailer doesn't reveal anything beyond the cliched dialogue we've heard a million times over. If I can see it without being forced to go 3D, I'll probably do it.

Yeah, I'm...not really sure what the movie's about from that trailer, and not in an "ooh, intriguing" way like the teaser. Which doesn't reflect on the movie, of course, just on the artfulness of the trailer cutter.
Yeah...this didn't make me jump up and down...BUT, the trailer for TANGLED was pretty horrid (with the Pink song) and that turned out to be a delight, so I think Disney is just obsessed with advertising their animated films as if they were made by Dreamworks to get simple minded juveniles in there for opening weekend before word gets out the movie is actually good and audiences steer clear.
They had me at Billy Connolly.
I remember thinking that Tangled was going to be SO bad, based on the trailer and the fact that they changed it from Rapunzel to Tangled... It's like changing The Little Mermaid into Beached. But it turned out to be one of my all time favorites. This looks like it's promising from the get go, so just imagine how great it's going to be with the always amazing (minus CARS) Pixar storytelling. Can't wait!
After watching it, I'm kinda left scratching my head. What exactly is it about? I started reading the comments and people are saying they're disappointed because they were hoping for a more serious take, but the trailer seemed catered toward kids. I felt like it was more serious than previous Disney Pixar films. Either that or I didn't find the humor overly funny that I would laugh.

The first teaser trailer had an entirely different feel.
Is this the one that Reese Witherspoon was attached to but backed out because of "no direction"?
The initial director Brenda Chapman was fired from the project, though still gets co-director credit, due to creative disagreements. She got replaced by Mark Andrews who had never done a directing gig but worked closely under Brad Bird and John Lasseter.

Both of those are amazing artists, so "hopefully," this film will be good.
WALL-E is a pretty good movie; far from Pixar's best, but very unique and cute. Cars 2 is the one that let me down the most.
And Tangled is Disney, not Pixar. Disney simply owns Pixar Animation Studios (so Eisner could save a dying Walt Disney Feature Animation, and right before he gave pink slips to all the traditional -- 2D -- animators); in my mind, they are seperate entities. :)
It may just be a poorly edited trailer. The story setup looks okay, but the slapstick reaction shots were totally generic, and you couldn't really tell what any of them were reacting to. They weren't funny because the setup is either nonexistent (bad movie) or not included here (bad editing).
My biggest problem with the "lofty aspirations" of Pixar movies that try to do something new, at least with storytelling, is they sell themselves out halfway through the films.
Wall-E and Up both had brilliant (truly groundbreaking) first halves. Then they quickly degenerated into kiddy chase scenes with most of the plot going right out the window. Self-sabbotage in the name of cheap laughs.
From what I can tell, at best "Brave" does the same. At worst, it doesn't even have a good first half.
I am disappointed--the first trailer looked like a refreshingly serious (or more serious anyway) adventure story--now this trailer is all about the laughs it seems--and a mess. But, meh, we'll see. I pretty much agree with Best's comments on past films (albeit Pixar definitely are in a different league than, say, Dreamworks, but I wouldn't put them up with the consistency of, say, Studio Ghibli).

Well, if there can be a billion animated action movies starring boys, I think the world can survive two starring girls.

Hell, if there can be two starring CARS, the world could survive three starring girls.
