Huffman's acting is like a master class in what to do and her costars are almost always a class in what not. I saw a film a few weeks ago. I'm completely blanking on the name. The one where Kate Hudson plays a Manhattanite whose sister dies and leaves her three children in Hudson's custody. Felicity is the sister. She's only in one scene (minus her obligatory appearance in a photograph over which to cry) but she schools everyone. It's that simple for her. Frankly, I think it works against her sometimes because she seems to be so real that she sinks right into the character. And, hey, y'all, Reese is just a little country girl from Tennessee!
I like Reese Witherspoon. And she was very good in Walk the Line (although not as good as she was in Election). But beating out Felicity for Best Actress in this role? Completely ridiculous! I haven't been that pissed since Whoopi Goldberg beat Lorraine Bracco for Best Supporting.
