This breaks my heart.

"International advocacy groups often portray this Caribbean island as the most hostile country in the Western Hemisphere for gay and transgender people. After two prominent gay rights activists were murdered, a researcher with the U.S.-based Human Rights Watch in 2006 called the environment in Jamaica for such groups 'the worst any of us has ever seen.'"

A co-worker of mine just recently returned from vacationing in Jamaica and gifted me a shot glass with the word "Jamaica" emblazoned on the front. I promptly gave it back and expressed my gratitude for the thought but I explained to him that I simply could not accept a gift with the name of a country that discriminates against me and my LGBT brothers and sisters.

Jamaica has long been very unfriendly to the gay/trans* communities. It's very sad overall, with this being one of the saddest examples.
