BWW's own Duncan Pflaster has issues with the script, but thought the production itself was great.
YAY! (And thanks very much to you, Mr. Pflaster!)
touchmeinthemorning: I'm going to assume this is the friend to whom you referred? If not, I say again: hope he or she liked it!

Wow! "Embarrassingly talented"!!!
Erika may be too modest to pull out this paragraph, but I'm not -
"If one aspect of this production truly thrives, it is the musical performance. The songs are very standard, sometimes bordering on pedestrian, but they tend to soar in the hands (and voices) of this cast. Most impressive is Ms. Amato, who brings an amalgamation of seemingly limitless chest voice and an agile lyric mezzo to Hesione's numbers. Her reading of "Serenity," Hesione's Act One showpiece, is among the best renditions I've ever heard. She's also the most comfortable actor of the bunch, soaring through a scene in which Leonide, disguised as Phocion the student, attempts to seduce her. Her voice beautifully blends with Ms. Baum's raw but appealing belt."

Thanks so much, EugLoven!

One more review (I leave it to Mamie to do the pull-quote thing again, if she so chooses... She's good at being my PR person!) ![]()

Now you guys understand our raves on the West Coast!
Great review Erika. Congrats.
I'm proud and happy to do it. If you n'yawkers were still wondering whether to cross over to Queens, this should answer your question:
"The more serious characters fare better. Rational siblings Hermocrates (Richard Rice Alan) and Hesione (Erika Amato) are both seduced by Leonide’s charms—Hermocrates knows Leonide is a woman; Hesione is convinced she is a man. Alan finds some refreshing levity in his sensual awakening, but Amato is hands-down the star of this production. It helps that she has the best song, the heartbreaking ballad “Serenity,” but she articulates every inch of her tightly laced character so persuasively that hers is the fate you lament at the end of the production. Bewitched and bullied by the scheming Leonide, Hesione serves as the emotional anchor in this overwhelmingly silly story. In fact, Amato’s elegant presence and velvety voice are the best reasons to revisit this show."
BRAVO ERIKA!
Yay, Erika! You got some really "good ink" as they used to say.
I'm not surprised in the least. I hope your next gig is Broadway!
An impressive NY debut indeed, Erika. Congrats.

I just wanted to thank Liotte and Shira for coming to the show last night! Hope you enjoyed yourselves! And I'm sorry I didn't have a chance to really hang out or chat...I had old friends there whom I hadn't seen in years and were taking me out afterwards. :-P

Hi, everyone -
Just wanted to give you a heads-up that if you were planning on coming to see Triumph Of Love on Thursday, the show has been canceled.
Apparently, the venue had never tried a Thursday night performance before, and the logistics proved to be pretty much impossible. (We share the space with the Boys and Girls Club, and it turns out that on Thursdays, there are just too many kids still running around at 8pm...)
ANYWAY, we still have 3 performances left! Friday & Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 6pm.

What happened with the N train derailment yesterday? Did you guys have any problems?

Well, some audience members were late, and it was a pain getting back to NY afterwards, but no, nothing major.
However, I forgot to mention that Jeffrey Stock (the composer) came to the show yesterday! And he seemed to really enjoy it, so YAY!
