Posted: 11/29/09 at 8:04pmMy writer friends have a lot of trouble getting published, and their stuff is better than the fanfictiony world of Twilight. Meyer said she got published pretty fast. How did a first-time writer have such zero trouble getting her rather uninspiring work published and promoted? Seems shady.

Posted: 11/29/09 at 8:22pmnygrl, J.K. Rowling was an unknown when writing Harry Potter. I mean, yes, the Potter books are by far better and more compelling works of literature then Twilight. But, it isn't unheard of for a first time author to make it big.

It was recognized that she potentially tapped into a commercial market - and the very things you decry are what make it so.
It was a gamble on their part that has paid off handsomly.
