Isn't there a long talked about rumour of a director's cut maybe being made?
I saw the movie when it was out as a teen, and I simply didn't get it. I don't think I even wanted to like it--I LOVED the tv show, even enjoyed most of Season 2 (which really started to improve by the end.) I really should re-watch it again since I recently revisited the TV show, and like Lynch stuff more now.
I think that was my problem. The movie was *too* Lynch for me. The TV series worked because the skills of Mark Frost, who gets such little credit for it (many of the actors said Lynch even lost interest during much of Season 1,) balanced with Lynch so well.
Not sure I'd upgrade to a Blu-ray--the last release looks gorgeous, and TV shows rarely improve on Blu-Ray to me.
Speaking of... David Lynch and Barry Gifford (who wrote the basis for Wild at Heart and, I believe the screenplay for Lost Highway's) 3 episode HBO series, Hotel Room is all up on youtube--I recently discovered http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CI_I6ewm-FY
