There is some sick tennis being played right now between Blake and Agassi. Although a Blake v. Ginepri match would be the hottest tennis match like EVER, I've gotta give the edge to Andre right now.

WOW!!!!! What a match! Congratulations to Mr. Blake on a stunning effort - but when you're up against one of the best that's ever played, you need that little something extra.

Andre, you inspire.

I was rooting for Blake, and it's too bad the US Open doesn't do the "win by two" rule that the other slams have. That match could've gone on and on and on...I also love the Andre quote:

"Let's get one thing straight, I didn't win, tennis won."

TOTALLY true! When's the last time 20,000 people stayed til 1am to watch a quarterfinal match???

And...an American will be in the final! I'm rooting for Genepri, but...he'll have to step it up to beat Andre...he was a little lethargic when I saw him play the other night. He is a hottie, though. he's still no Roddick or Safin, but I wouldn't kick him out of bed.

Well we don;t get to see much of the American open here... how's Roddcik going on? I acknowledge federer is a great player but as a person... he needs a slap! His speech after the Wimbledon final was so egotistical... Roddick took the mickey out of himself! What has happened to Venus? Arghhhh i need Amercian channels!

Cathy - it really was one of the best I've seen - certainly for quite some time. And Mr. Blake was stupendous. As Andre said, the real winner was tennis.

And I must give just a little shout-out to the wondrous Martina N, who will be playing in the semi-finals of the women's doubles today. Not bad for an old broad! I'll only say that from a distance, because I have NO DOUBT she could kick my butt re: U.S. Open Tennis

i didn't think agassi had another 5 setter in him so soon. i was shocked. i actually had to go to bed, so i missed a lot of it. i always pull for martina. who do you like on the womens side now, d? i am undecided. i can't get excited about kim c, dunno why.

GG - the way things have turned out for the women, I would be thrilled if Pierce took it all the way! It's been great watching this resurgence - and she really is playing very strongly. I haven't ever warmed much to Clisters, either - but some of that may be residual disdain that I feel for Llleyton, whom I've never liked (I know, that's not fair!)

And as for the men, as I've said before, I am a Roger fanatic. I'm trying to recall the Wimbledon interview that someone referenced him being egotistical in - I've NEVER seen anything approaching that from him.

I'm rooting for my hometown boy - Robby Ginepri! Robby graduated from my high school a few years back.

Jungle - he certainly looks promising - and beating Andre would certainly be a feather in his cap!

Federer and Nalbandian are playing right now.

Well, they WERE playing, but not for long! I suppose after the brilliant match last night anything would have been a let-down, but this really was a snoozer. Roger looks perfectly in control, and will hopefully dismantle Mr. Hewitt with as much ease.

I have to also say that I didn't appreciate the racquet-breaking tantrum of Mr. Nalbandian's at all - simply pointless bad sportsmanship.

c - I'm looking forward to seeing some new talent come into its own, and he looks very solid. But I still want Andre to win - he certainly won't have many more opportunities like this, if ever again. He's worked so hard, and sets such a fine example - on and off the court - that I'd love to see it rewarded in a big way.

Although, ultimately, I just have a hard time envisioning anything derailing the Federer Express right now!

Cleijsters and Pierce for the womens final. Should be good.

And yes, the Canon Rebel commercials are beyond cute.

Now, if Federer wins in straight love sets and Pierce takes it all I'll be as happy as can be re: U.S. Open Tennis

i'm not crying, DG. yes, i was rooting for my georgia boy, but andre WAS fantastic!

my only disappointment in the match is that they never had the camera on robby's abs when he pulled up his shirt to wipe his face re: U.S. Open Tennis
