I am desperately in need of new snow boots this year. I like the look and feel of the Men's boots with the rubber soles, lace up fronts, and fur popping out of the top. I feel like they will keep me warm, and be good for city life in the winter. My question is, are they really worth $250?

I've found other cheaper boots that I like aesthetically, but not functionally. Also, I fear that if I get a cheaper brand (like I did last time) they will start to fall apart after one year (like they did last time) I can see this as an investment, but I should still be cautious about where I spend my money.

Anyone have these boots and highly recommend them?

Classic Uggs are slippery as all hell, but the snow boots are good. The Butte style is supposed to be fantastic.

Pretty pretty please don't you ever ever feel like you're less than f**ckin' perfect!

I know a lot of people that own uggs and they LOVE them and say they are warm and comfortable. I have some horrible boots that were kinda cheap and they are super uncomfortable...haha.

You might want to look at Sorel boots. You can find a good pair in the $150 range.

I once was in Alaska in the dead of winter and my feet were absolutely freezing. Someone recommended Sorels, and over the years I have purchased 3 of them.

Lauren, I actually was looking at the Sorels this weekend. I LOVE them, but the issue is that I hear they aren't terribly comfortable to walk around in. Given that I live in the city, this is an issue. What was your experience?

Singtopher - I wish I had some good advice for you. I personally do not have a problem clunking around in the boots for several hours (I sometimes walk about 5 miles). But my feet are used to taking a beating. I've been so accustomed to the warmth that they give me, that I haven't tried another brand. I started wearing Sorels over 20 years ago.

Wish I had more info for you. Good luck with whatever you decide to go with.

UGG boots?

I have had the same pair of Sporto boots since the 90's. They still fit and are still in good condition. I've walked around the city in them so I can testify to their comfort. I have a pair of low ones so my jeans go over them for a nicer look. I don't even know if they make this particular style anymore but I have purchased new boots but always find myself going back to the Sportos. Since you live in the city I imagine you don't have a driveway or walk to shovel so you would have less need for a higher boot. Something that won't be heavy on your feet would be better IMO.

I've had my boots for a long time so I can't talk about the current state of the company. But, they've done me well.

Thanks for the suggestion. Are they particularly warm?

My favorite insult of all time was from a few year ago. Some trashy ghetto woman was talking about another trashy ghetto woman across the street and said "Look at that bitch. She got them Ugg boots to match that Ugg face!"

My friend and I cried we laughed so hard and use that to this day.

I find them to be warm though when I wear them I typically wear athletic socks with them. Since they're ankle high if you walk through snow that's more than ankle deep you'll probably end up with cold feet. But, for city walking they're fine.

I love my Ugg's. They are super warm and comfy. And most dry cleaners will clean them for you for $25. At least they do here.
