Posted: 8/23/13 at 3:51pmI'll be there for sessions 9 and 13. Also, I got an email yesterday from Time Warner saying that the Tennis Channel will be available for free during the Open, so I guess if there's anything that NBC/ESPN/ESPN2 don't cover, it'll be available for viewing there.

SLOANE!! ut, what a squeaker...after 6-3 in the tie break, it looked like trouble, yet...pretty interesting win.
Go Serena!

Posted: 8/26/13 at 9:21pmIt was great seeing Venus win this afternoon. She appeared to be in top form. Hope she stays healthy during these next two weeks. I love Venus Williams!

This is my favorite weekend of the year. Labor Day weekend at The US Open. There is more play than you can take in. Other fav use to be Super Saturday till they split the session up.
Probably all ready aware but just in case they say the security lines to get in are really bad. They are opening the gates 30 mins earlier today.

Serena clobbered Schiavone so badly that Schiavone needed a hug from a ball boy.

haha thats true MADBRIAN.
Does anyone know if UTA tests for steroids? I mean look at Serena compared to the girls on the tour. She looks like shes in the WWE. Even her sister is no where as built up

Posted: 8/28/13 at 1:08amDid anyone see unseeded, 17 year old Victoria Duval from the US beat former US Champion Stosur tonight? It was a great match, and it was so emotional to see Duval win. She played a hell of a game.

Yes, I did watch the Stosur-Duval match on tv. There's something about Victoria that reminds of a 16-year old Tracy Austin who won the title for the 1st time. There's both a strength and frailty to her game.
I'd like to see her use her nearly 5' 10" frame better to develop a more potent and better directed serve. Right now the delivery is predictable and she doesn't get nearly enough pop on the ball to keep the devastating returners like Azarenka and Serena at bay. Without a few cheap points on serve, she'll have to grind it out like the legions of other baseliners on the women's tour currently. They tend to not win majors these days.
All season long Aussie Sam has struggled with self-confidence again but full credit to Victoria.

bump
Rafa Nadal is now only 4 slam titles shy of Federer's record in singles which Serena tied. This was an amazing US Open.
Djokovic is my fave after Federer but I'm now convinced that like Agassi before him he doesn't have the weapons to dominate the sport despite his tremendous success.
If Vika would visit the wiz to get a more potent serve she'd most likely become Serena's heir apparent. I love Vika's on-court mobility for a 6' tall lady. Historically women her height on tour haven't moved very well but Venus and she are notable exceptions. She just needs to develop that serve into a weapon the way Sharapova did before the shoulder problems. My personal fave Serena needs a consistent rival or two at the majors to keep things interesting. Someone will have to beat Serena at her own game the way Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert spent years trying to one up each other on court.
