Chicago! I'm only a train away, so needless to say I'm ridiculously excited for them.
Well, I would be if I knew what the hell I was gonna audition with.

Awesome! My dad really wants me to go to Chicago because it's closer. BUT Syracuse is up in New York and I think it would be a waste to go to Chicago and then drive all the way up to Syracuse. So i'm thinking of going to New York and auditioning for Emerson and CCPA. Then going to see a Broadway show for my birthday, then drive up to Syracuse.

I've been to the Unifieds for the past 2 years, first in Chicago and then in NYC. I recommend Chicago over NYC any day...they're all in one building (the Palmer House Hilton Hotel, which is GORGEOUS) and not spread out all over the freaking city like in New York. Plus, everyone seemed a lot nicer and more relaxed in Chicago.

Wait the American Management Association isn't in one building? O yikes! Maybe I will go to Chicago lol. Well that cuts out seeing The Little Mermaid for my birthday.

Syracuse is pretty far from NYC, so don't let that be a factor in your decision. Ny is a big state!

O I know lol. It's just I'd rather knock out 3 schools in NY than drive out to Chicago then get back to Ohio and have to drive 5 more hours up to Syracuse!

Some of them are in the AMA building, but I had to walk many, many blocks to get to my SUNY Purchase audition, which was in some studio along with NCSA, and a few other schools. I ended up not even auditioning for Rutgers (I was planning to do a walk-in) because it was in an entirely different building in a different part of the city and I couldn't find it. In Chicago, UCLA, USC and CalArts were in another building right across the street, and DePaul was around the block. Very close together and easy to find. All in all, Chicago was definitely the better experience.

I've heard about people saying that the NYC one's weren't all in one building...I never had to walk anywhere for my auditions in NYC, I did them all at AMA...In NYC I believe I auditioned for BOCO, CCM and Otterbein...and then in Chicago I did Otterbein (I was asked to audition for more people), University of oaklahoma also asked me to audition for them but that wasn't on the original schedule, Michigan and CMU.
I'm not going to turn down either place because I had a great and Amazing time at both...it really really was fun, you guys will enjoy it whoever is heading off to do it. I actually posted a detailed account on what unifieds were like for me on my myspace blog if anybody wants to check it out.

gypsied, SUNY Purchase, NCSA and Rutgers aren't part of the Unifieds, which is why their auditions weren't being held in the same place. All of the schools that are part of the Unifieds hold their auditions in the AMA building in NY.

I want to audition for BOCO but they suck with transfers...so I'm not going to bother :-/ I'm auditioning for CCPA CCM Point Park and Hartt :) I'm also auditioning for Ball State, University of Alabama, University of Florida, Florida State, Jacksonville University, Kent State and Elon but I might narrow those down in the future. The florida ones are pretty easy to get to cause of my nifty train pass, so I probably will keep them all, but I hate florida with a passion, I want to leave
.
AND YAY FOR HARTT CCPA CCM AND KENT :)

Oh don't worry hun, you will. If you're really extremely worried than look into a back up non audition school with a good program. I only auditioned for two schools when I first auditioned and the first one I auditioned for rejected me, and the second accepted me and thats where I ended up. Did I mention i never had dance training? lol. I was discouraged but I kept trying. My point is, don't be discouraged by rejection, work your ass off on your audition material and show those people they NEED you in their school. Break a leg!!!

Just out of curiosity, does anyone have any opinions on auditioning at regional auditions vs. at the school? I know its probably better to audition at the shcool, but does it make that much difference? This is my #1 worry, because I'm doing most of my auditions at Unifieds. It just so expensive to go to each school individually.

No difference. Unifieds are fine.

RENTistheword -- You posted a transfer thread before, right? Hartt is the only one on your list that I auditioned for, and I auditioned at Unifieds and was accepted. They were the most transfer-friendly school I auditioned for.
In the past they've not had a dance audition @ Unifieds but this year they will, FYI.

Does anyone have any more info on unifieds? Is there a website I can look at?
I'm completely new to this sort of thing.
