Update: 3 not 4 Disney films to be re-released in 3D. — Page 2

This is going to be a long post, but it would be nice if 'Aladdin' had a theatrical re-release. Originally, there was supposedly one planned for IMAX release in 2003, but it was cancelled.

Also, there was no Dimaond Edition Blu-Ray and DVD planned for 'Aladdin'. It was originally going to be the only film of the Platinum Edition line to not be included in the Diamond Edition line.

I thought that this had something to do with the fact it was only film from the "Disney Renaissance" in the Platinum edition line that never had a re-release in theaters. 'The Little Mermaid', 'Beauty and the Beast', and 'The Lion King' all had at least one theatircal re-release before their Platinum editions were released. 'Aladdin' also apparently less DVDs than any Platinum edition released before it.

However, 'Aladdin' will be included in the Diamond Edition after all. A Blu-Ray and new DVD is planned for spring 2013.

I wonder if this had anything with the film getting some new popularity lately. Linda Larkin and Lea Salonga, who did Jasmine's speaking and singing voices respectively, were named Disney Legends last year. There is also a new musical adaptation, which had its premiere in Seattle last year and another production is planned for the Muny in St. Louis. Both Jasmine and Aladdin appearered in the new game, 'Disneyland Kinect Adventures'; and the film even had some allusions on 'Once Upon a Time'.

It would be great if Disney could find a time to re-release it in early 2013.

I finally get to see 'The Little Mermaid' in in theaters.

Little Mermaid is being released in 3D in LA at the El Capitan

It sounds as if nobody at Disney has ever actually been to the movies.

I really don't see this ending well when people start getting into fights in the theaters.

The posters in the theater say "Bring your iPad!"
