VH1 to bring VH1 Divas Concert series back!

VH1 announced today that they will be reprising their VH1 Divas series!!!!
I got the below from Perez:

The annual show has been on hiatus for the past four years, but VH1 will be airing the latest installment of VH1 Divas live from the Brooklyn Academy of Music on September 17!

Says Divas executive producer Lee Rolontz:

Over the years, we've received constant calls and emails asking us to bring back our 'Divas' show. Now more than ever, the time feels right to re-launch this beloved show as a new generation of talented female artists has come to the forefront of music? We've heard our viewers, and we promise to deliver a live show that will generate the same 'Divas' excitement as in the past ? while also infusing some new twists along the way.

Past divas legends on the program have included Diana Ross, Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner and Cher, just to name a few.

So who will be performing at the divalicious show???

That's up to you!

VH1 has opened up voting on their website to decide which of your diva favs should take part in the 2009 show!

It is so sad that they will never consider Liza or Patti or Bernadette even though they would blow the roof off. They will roll out some hack beeyotches who can't sing like Taylor Swift, Faith Hill, or Shania Twain.

I hope they call a real DIVA who can sing, like Sarah Brightman. Liza would be a good choice too.

Actually .. it is cable tv.. ratings matter.. but in a different way. SO that argument doesn't carry much weight. Also in the past VH1 Divas has had people like Carole King, Leann Rhimmes, Diana Ross, Cher ( right before Believe) Shaka and so on. Liza would fit great into the mix.

I like the others but there isn't what qualifies to be in the same category as past Divas in the bunch.

I gave them a pass when they mixed the new with the legendary (even though my heart heart when Stevie was drowned out by the Dixie Chicks) but there aren't any divas this time. Maybe JHud. Maybe. She has an Oscar.

I guess if Mariah was a Diva, then JHud makes the cut. When I think of Divas I think of Tina, Cher, Celine, Diana. I guess they lowered their standards.

So what's the bet J-Hud does "And I Am Telling You..."?

Do you think she will want to prove that her music career can carry her and choose NOT to sing it? Or will she throw the fans a bone?

Do you think she would do it live?

Why isn't Beyonce involved in this? If anyone is - in the true sense - a DIVA, it's her. She could wipe the stage with the other 4, minus J-Hud of course.

And Adele? Diva? That's even more shocking than Miley - at least she's a superstar (for better or worse).

None of those girls are DIVAS!!!
This show is painful, Paula's jokes are so odd, and they all fall flat. She appeared imitating Ellen and she wound up looking like Chucky.

I only saw the first half. Adele sounded amazing- I love her voice. None of these girls are divas, but (with the exception of one) they're all power houses.

Great show. I was pleasantly surprised. The duet with Jennifer Hudson and Stevie Wonder was the highlight for me.
