Posted: 3/7/10 at 12:50pmThat takes a lot of maturity to do that during the awards season when she is nominated. Halle Berry did this for Catwoman but it was AFTER she had the golden statuette and Tom Green did it b/c he is Tom Green. Go Sandra!

I am proud to say I haven't watched any of the movies nominated!!! LOL
I just made the horrible mistake of seeing Nine and Avatar 3D(the 1st 15 mins because I got sick), and that probably reminded me not to go to the movies for quite awhile.
I just think it's tiresome to nominate Meryl Streep every year, I mean, there are many talented actresses out there who don't get any recognition and they all should get their moment, just like Streep has gotten several times.

"Winning the Oscar tonight would be the worst thing for her career. Nobody likes an Oscar winner who doesn't deserve it."
A very good point, Borstalboy.
The Academy and movie audiences have held that against actors and directors before.
As for Bullock, I think the fact that she's a successful producer as well as an actress means she'll continue to work, whether she wins or not tonight, as long as she continues to hire herself.
I think it's a safe bet she'll continue to work a lot.

Well, Im not concerned with the fact she will remain working, Sandra Bullock is filthy rich like most Hollywood A-listers! She could probably not work a day and she is all set for the rest of her life.
I just want new names, tired of the same old, some old.
She has never won an Oscar, but honestly I want any of the actresses to win, just not Meryl Streep again, I love her and all, but enough already!

Let's be clear, Meryl has been nominated the most but she has not won since Sophie's Choice. That being said, of all the films she has since been nominated for this is just not up there regardless of how weak the year is for actresses nominated. She really should have won something when both Adaptation. and The Hours were out but she only got nominated for Adaptation.
Meryl's Julia Child was fun but between both of them- not that I thought either performance instantly made me think statuette- I would say I thought Sandra was better.
Keep in mind, I haven't seen the other actresses. People are now starting to say Mulligan is Sandra's biggest threat. Sometimes the Academy does not always go for the most mainstream, Julia Roberts notwithstanding. All About Steve could be for Sandra what Norbit was for Eddie Murphy when he was nominated.

Posted: 3/7/10 at 2:05pmI think Meryl will win this year. Of course I say that and will be proven instantly wrong but I do think it's her year.

Tabloids kinda want to make people feel sorry for an actress that has been nominated to 15 Oscars and has won 2!!!
That's nothing to feel sorry about...

Posted: 3/7/10 at 2:09pmExactly. Meryl has had better performances in non-winning roles (and even non-nominated roles) than her performance in JULIE & JULIA. She will not win. It's going to Bullock and if not Bullock then Mulligan. But it's going to Bullock. And while I haven't seen THE LAST STATION so I cannot compare to Mirren, I would say that Bullock deserves it this year.

Posted: 3/7/10 at 2:09pmAny buzz on foreign movies? A picture from my country(Argentina) is nominated called "El Secreto de tus Ojos"(The Secret of your Eyes), and also I have many friends from Peru that are very excited about the Peruvian movie nominated.

I'd love to see Bullock win. She's been one of my favorite underrated actresses for many years now.
As for Foreign films, I'm pretty sure A PROPHET will win Best Foreign Language Film. Seems like a lock.

Really? I thought for sure The White Ribbon was the front-runner though that category is known for its unpredictability.
