Posted: 9/10/09 at 10:58pmI liked this much more than I should. I'm a sucker (ba dum bump) for vampire anything so I had to give it a shot. It's Dawson's Creek meets True Blood with a bit of Gossip Girl thrown in there. As Ina Garten would say, "How bad can that be"?

Posted: 9/10/09 at 11:02pmI'll have to check it out. I liked the Secret Circle books better than the Vampire Diaries books but they were still pretty awesome. I'm a little unsure about Elena as a brunette. In the books its her blonde hair that catches the attention of the dark, Italian brothers. And her best friend is a druid priestess. The chick on the show don't look Irish to me lol

I haven't read the books but are they from Italy in the books or of Italian decent? Either way they look neither.
The black best friend is supposed to be Irish? Right now she was just told she was psychic.
I love all things vampire too. Also love a bit of occasional camp. And it is totally Vampire Gossip Creek. Fabulous!

It's... interesting. I read the books after the Twilight books to get all my cheap vampire thrills out at once, and... I didn't love them, but the show MIGHT be worse. The changes from the books are completely unnecessary, and the fog effect is just... I can't even stand it.
That said, I'll probably keep watching it, because the guys who play Stefan and Damon... DAMN.

Bobby, I miss Buffy too. Hopefully the black best friend will turn out to be a lesbian just like Willow when season 4 rolls around. Mmmmmm. The lead Nina Dobrev is hot...general acting skills be damned, but she's still hot.

I know. I'm thinking of watching it from the beginning.
I like True Blood but it is missing the campy level of Buffy.

#15re: Vampire Diaries
Posted: 9/10/09 at 11:31pmI think it's the best episode of the entire series.

Lol,
I also like that one of the brothers looks like a young Brian Kinney (Queer as FOlk). All camptastic vampire shows should have at least 3 really hot guys. I hope this show gets more adult with its audience. I hope it runs for a while.

Posted: 9/11/09 at 12:25amI like the promos for this. They do that thing where it reads one word at a time as I. Want. To. Suck. Your. and then it says blood and that was totally not what I thought it was going to say.

Hush was brilliant, but it had too much Riley to be my favorite.
I'm not sure I've ever cried more in my life than the end of Becoming Part 2. I don't think I could pick an episode not from the 2nd season, it was my absolute favorite.
And on the actual topic, I plan to watch VD online soon. I've said in the past, of all the vampire series I've read, it's my least favorite, but it can't be too bad with Ian Somerhalder in it!

No, I didn't know she had written more. I haven't read LJ in so long. I graduated from her to Sherrilyn Kenyon and Mary Janice Davidson

Have to say it was far better than what I was expecting.
Not read the books - but what is up with the fog?! It would have been passible, but during the graveyard scene the blatant fog machines was awful.
If Elena was blonde - it would have at least ATTEMPTED to avoid the inevitable Twilight comparison. I mean The Rob Pattinson would be look-a-like doesn't help either.
Loved the badass vampire brother. Oh, and the cute stoner brother :)
