Thou shall not pollute the Earth.
Thou shall beware genetic manipulation.
How these, Catholic Church?
Thou shall stop being so damn hypocritical.
Thou shalt stop defending priests who are child abusers.
Thou shall love they neighbor, no matter who he is partners with.
nothing wrong with going green, but when you profess hate at the same time, you need a major time-out

Well I for one am sure glad they're here to tell us these things. What would we do if the world didn't have a group of humans (just as moral as sinful as the rest of us) to sit around and decide what will be a sin?
And further hijinks ensue...one of the other new sins they've identified is "social injustice."
No, really. I'm laughing on the inside.

And especially people
Who care about strangers
Who care about evil
And social injustice
Do you only
Care about the bleeding crowd?
How about a needing friend?
I need a friend
Easy to be hard
Easy to say no-o-ooo
They should update their little outfits too...does anyone still wear a Pope hat?
And maybe candles from Fresh instead of that incense? They can afford it.

Does anyone else think the Pope looks like Glinda from "Wizard of Oz?"

Since we're talking about the Vatican, I thought I'd share this shocking story:
Shroud Of Turnip
It's interesting how they can so easily amend the Bible, but when you mention homosexuality, suddenly they're purists.

Once again, I ask the question: why do you align yourself with a religion that you don't agree with? Why try to change a religion instead of starting a new belief system?

Does anyone agree 100% with the tenents of his religion? I think picking and choosing would be a lot easier than trying to start a whole new religion, not to mention that it wouldn't be recognized by society. Updated On: 3/10/08 at 12:10 PM
"Does anyone agree 100% with the tenents of his religion?"
I'm an atheist, so yes.

Probably not, but I would think that there are major and minor issues. Pollution is a minor issue. Homosexuality is a major issue.

Atheism isn't a religion, so there isn't a belief system to abide by.

Only to the religious.

Sure there is...we just don't have rules, diets or dress codes. But NOT beliving in something is just as much of a system that believing in the genie in the sky.

You are joking, right?

Lildogs, I disagree. If you don't believe, you don't believe. That's it. Your lack of belief doesn't in turn become it's own belief system.
If you believe in Santa Claus, there's a whole set of rationalizations you must do to keep that belief going. Same with God. Once you stop believing in either there's no system to follow. You just don't believe.
While it may not be considered a religion, it is a philosophy, like agnosticism, pantheism or deism.
There IS a set of beliefs: there is no life after death, the earth was created by itself and morality is a fluid concept based on individual experience.
Isn't like the color black? The absence of beliefs?

Phyllis, the fact that atheism even has a name infers that there are some number of commonalities between the people who associate with it. It might not be an organized religion, per say, but there is a generally agreed upon system of beliefs.
what i want to know is how can a person decided what is a sin? i dont belive everything in the bible, but where does it say it's a sin to pollute? how can someone just decide this?
Because they are divinely inspired.
*stifles laugh*
so can just anyone say that?
They can and do, Abba...I think though that the idea is that the Bible advises followers to cherish the earth and all the creatures in't....or was that Shakespeare?
