amanda,
There is a big difference between discussing your views and being downright cruel. Many of the people on this board have lost loved ones from AIDS. Your mocking is insensitive. Why would you feel the need to belittle a charity walk is mind boggling. And why you would do so in a public forum is an indication of your lack of character.
You have crossed a line here, and I hope you can see that.

I've always marveled at the hypocrisy of the religious fanatics who claim sexually transmitted diseases are somehow a symbol of god's wrath.
What about cancer? What about diabetes? What about any of the scads of diseases, some inheritable, some infectious through contact or even transmittable through the air? Are they all instruments of God's wrath?
What about when a minister gets cancer? I've actually sat in a church where, in nearly the same breath, a man claimed AIDS was vengeance from god while a pastor's cancer was merely a struggle given for God's people to overcome.
Havin' it both ways, just like Amanda. Except no one would be dumb enough to give it to Amanda once.

I'm not mocking anyone who has died form AIDS. The problem I have with all these celebrities who have the nerve to go around on these awards shows 'wearing the so called red ribbons'(promoting AIDS awareness)and than afterwards you see than on screen having sex?So much for AIDS awareness. If they were really sincere, about AIDS awareness, they wouldn't be showing sex or nudity on tv, movies, or cable, period! They all say one thing and do another. In one word, HYPOCRITES! And they have the nerve to 'wear the ribbons', what a joke! At least Jim C has respect for himself. Unlike others I can name.

Is "wear the ribbons" a euphemism for butt sex? Is that why it's in quotes?

And what's with calling them "so called" red ribbons? What else would you call a ribbon that is red? A douche?

No, it was suppose to be the same as before. I don't know where the '5' came from. Seems like someone is trying to take away MY freedom of speech. That's censorship.

It's one thing if you showed yourself capable of entertaining a rational thought, but by suggesting promoting AIDS awareness and displaying sex on television or in a film to be hypocrisy, you've pretty much done nothing but prove yourself incapable of independent thought. Did you just cut and paste that last post from an AFA bulletin?

Okay, Manda, we get it. You don't like Democratic celebrities. You don't like sex (I'll bet!), the body, or really anything that isn't religious, white, heterosexual, conservative. Anything original to say...anything? Seriously: surprise us.

Isn't it funny how some of these religious fanatics have no problem with "THEIR" Hollywood buddies (Jim Caviezel, Charleton Heston,Arnold, Bruce Willis, Ronald Reagan, Fred Thompson,Ron Silver, Bo Derek,Sonny Bono, etc)For some reason they get a free pass. Charleton Heston, Moses himself was naked in "The Planet Of the Apes". What about Mel Gibson who has been naked in numerous movies? Yeah, anyone who is TERRIFIED of nudity has 'issues' and they are looking for ANYONE to target for their problems.

On a lighter note, heres yet another typical Catholic scandal. You know, there are more scandals with the Catholic church these days then there are with the Bush Cartel!!

Priest, 77, guilty of sex abuse in 1990s. Man gets 60-day sentence, probation

A 77-year-old Carmelite priest from Joliet pleaded guilty Thursday to sexually molesting two brothers in the 1990s when they were young teenagers under his spiritual guidance.

In a deal with Will County prosecutors, Rev. Louis Rogge is expected to spend 30 days in jail and serve 4 years of probation. The priest, who has a prior child-abuse conviction and was removed from the ministry in 2002, must register as a sex offender.

Schoenstedt said he would accept the deal -- if Rogge cooperated with the evaluation, stayed out of trouble and showed up on time for sentencing. The agreement called for a 60-day jail term, with day-for-day credit for good time, and a suspended sentence of 120 days Rogge would have to serve if he got into trouble while on probation.

Still, he praised Will County authorities. "Given the fact that so many in law enforcement even now still show excessive and reckless deference to church officials, I'm grateful he is at least spending some time behind bars," he said. "Any guilty verdict or plea and jail sentence at least provides some measure of validation and comfort and public safety."

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com
A devastating investigation into the pedophilia scandals tearing apart the Catholic Church, Deliver Us From Evil begins by looking into one priest, Father Oliver O'Grady, who agreed to be interviewed by journalist/filmmaker Amy Berg. O'Grady's genial calm is at first ingratiating, until he begins to describe his crimes with an unsettling sociopathic detachment. But O'Grady's blithe interview is only half of the story, as the documentary also unveils how church superiors covered up O'Grady's crimes and shuffled him from diocese to diocese in northern California, finally placing him in an unsupervised position of authority in a small town, where he sexually assaulted dozens of children; the video deposition of Los Angeles Cardinal Roger Mahoney is a grotesque portrait in brittle denial. What makes Deliver Us From Evil crucial viewing, however, are the remarkable interviews with a few of the victims (now adults) and their parents, whose stories are wrenching and riveting. With the support of a priest seeking to reform the church, two of the victims actually go to the Pope, seeking some form of help in addressing O'Grady's crimes. This stunningly potent documentary combines raw feeling with lucid and persuasive discussions of the reasons for--and disturbing breadth of--this crisis within the Church. --Bret Fetzer
