Regarding the article:

1. Not surprising
2. Not really news
3. Vatican is not the government

The real issue is the Vatican's fear of the already rapid increase of more liberal thinking among Italians due to their own hypocracies. They realize Italian citizens are becoming educated and that terrifies the Pope and his cronies.

Dear Pope:

A few years ago we realized Christianity is not specifically defined by Catholicism. We also realized Christianity is not the only religion in the world. This leads us to believe that since all religions tell us they are the only religion that is correct, then they can't all be right, so we're going to window shop a bit. We had our ups and downs, but we just don't see this relationship going anywhere. Don't take it personally, it's not you, it's us. We're prepared to provide you with 6 weeks severence pay, though under the circumstances, we would not feel comfortable writing a letter of recommendation. Good luck with your future endeavors.

Sincerely,
Italy

PS - The manse is going on the market, so we will give you a heads-up when prospective buyers come to tour the property.

You don't have to keep your opinions to yourselves...but you DO have to realize that not everyone shares them, and some things that you don't "believe in" still have a Constitutional right to exist.

The rain we knew is a thing of the past -
deep-delving, dark, deliberate you would say
browsing on spire and bogland; but today
our sky-blue slates are steaming in the sun,
our yachts tinkling and dancing in the bay
like racehorses. We contemplate at last
shining windows, a future forbidden to no one.

Amanda, as a Christian let me let you in on a little secret- WE ARE NOT GOD! We don't know what His will is and we have no right to tell others what God thinks. Each person answers for their lives to God only. Not to you, not to me, not to anyone but God. Free speech is a wonderful thing. It allows people to express themselves and say what is on their mind, but with it comes a greater freedom. The freedom to walk away. If you don't like what is said on these boards then please feel free to log off and walk away from the computer. Go somewhere else where you will feel more at ease to share your views with like minded individuals. You can stay here and use your freedom of speech, but expect for others to exercise their's in return.

There is a big difference between spreading God's word and spreading hate and aggravation.

Not to mention the gay-goings-on within the Catholic church itself.

KelRel, that was just beautiful! FINALLY a REAL Christian! I believe anyone who poses as a christian and then judges others are NOT spreading the word of Christ. Interesting how all these God fearing Christians feel they need to do God's work. If you have so much faith in God, why not let him do his job? Oh, and if your going to use the bible vs.Homosexuality, then I suppose its okay to own slaves because the bible says its okay. The bible also says its okay to stone ANYONE who works on the sabbath. I also hope you don;t eat shellfish becasue it too is an abomination. You Christians love to pick and choose the bible to your liking. You cater the stuff you chose to obey and then dust the 'silly'stuff under the rug. The Catholic CHurch is not only corrupt they protect pedophiles. They allow Priests to molest young children and then actually have the nerve to call homsexuals devients. Do you honestly think God is giving these people a free pass and then punishing Gays? How anyone can hate a group of people on who they love is just horrible in my opinion. Jesus Christ was all about love and thats all gay people do eyt its people like you who make their lives a living hell in the name of Jesus Christ. I think its YOU who had better be afraid come Judgement day. Your spreading hate in the name of God and I doubt he'll be very happy with you!

Ironic how some come to a Broadway message board and are then DISGUSTED that there are actually "Those Kinds" here. I mean the nerve! Do you really think your going to clean up this board and kick us all out? Freedom of Speech is one thing, but Lady your spreading nothing but hate and judging those who aren't like you. Perhaps the most Un-Christian thing a person could do. You should be ashamed of yourself!

Amanda, its not that they don't want to hear the opposing opinion, they just don't want to be hit over the head with it. We have heard your point of view and we're not blind. We get it. You are the one who seems to not like different points of view. If you hate the "Do as I say not as I do" attitude that you see so rampant here then please feel free to leave. You are more guilty of that than anyone here though. You come on here claiming to be a Christian and claiming to want to spread God's word, yet you spread hate and say horrible things to people. Christ's message was one of love- not hate and bigotry. Love thy neighbor, turn the other cheek, etc... If you want to spread God's word try following it.

Although Jesus was horrible to his mother. Hor-RI-ble! I mean, if we're to take the various conflicting gospel accounts as historical fact.

How is living their lives shoving anything down anyone's throat?

What Would Jesus Do? Look at who He chose to surround Himself with during His time here on earth. This is not how He would treat another human being, sinner or not.

It's called the New Testament. Read it sometime.
